That was so interesting! I was running only in zone 2 up until a month before my 10km, and i loved it! Like you said, just enjoying it! Even though the 10km was great, the training the last few weeks was intense. But it has most definitely got me more intreged about trail running + ultras. Question: Have you noticed a difference in the health of older people, based on if they are running ultras or running shorter distances? Lovely video thank you so much :D

We runners support each other and motivate each other... and even when we compete against each other it is always healthy competitiveness

"Running with joy"! Yes!! That's just the message most of us needed to hear. You should put that on some merch. Hell, I'd buy it.

Haha I love that idea! I'm not sure I have the headspace to make merch yet, but maybe one day 😊

I won a Chicago Marathon entry with only 11 weeks to train (I already had the base miles). I ran the first 14 miles and walked the rest. I couldn’t believe how good I felt the next day! Since I’m approaching 60, I think I’m going to do Galloway from now on!

Love it! It's a great approach, and can help you have some big adventures, whilst looking after the body 😊🙏

Guys, try Backyard Ultras. I fell in love with them. Hard on the psyche, but a lot of fun. Especially if you want to run with your friends...

I did one recently and covered the mindset aspect of it in this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqeVY4KJr6dkebcsi=UcZqm3adBIbWOGxh Happy training :)

Proud to see the 999 likes, for me to make it the 1000th of the video. I am just about to start running. Waiting on the new Novablast 5 that are coming out. Currently 89kg at 6"5 doing body building for the past few years. I thought now was the time to incorporate running to feel free and able to run whenever I want for a long distance and just feel more fit. Always had the idea to run a marathon for years. Perhaps it might turn into a ultra marathon, who knows. 2027 is when I will run a marathon. I however know that I won't be running for long, as I understand running is not very good for someone so heavy/tall. Also not actually good for longevity more than getting in 10k steps per day. ( Walking ) The goal was as follows: Build Muscle Mass --> Run A Marathon --> Train For Longevity & Flexibility. Now time to watch the video!

NO ONE CARES. when I ran 15 km for the first time, my pace was 8:45 /km. I'm a bit down, because my pace are slow. but no one cares, no one cares about my pace. one thing my friends care about is me running 15 km, and that motivates them to run 15 km too

Exactly right! And congratulations on hitting the 15k 👊😊

Hi Chris. I signed up to your Mountain Strong course and am absolutely loving it, including the bonus 15 minute (or should I say 25 ;) ) mobility video. I really enjoy your calm and relatable style and have recently bought wedges and lifting straps off the back of your advice! I'm gradually coming back to running as I rehab a hamstring injury and can't wait to build up my strength alongside building up my mileage!

Amazing! This is so great to read, thanks so much for letting me know. Best of luck with the training, I hope it helps you feel strong coming back from injury. All the best 🙏😊

What great video. Caught my attention when I saw the words, no one cares. Because they are actually the words I always used for people who are either on the cusp of beginning that running journey and are worried that they are not good enough for whatever event they are considering entering. Even if it is just Parkrun or for people who put off entering races because they are worried where they are going to come in the ranking. I tell them that in the nicest possible way, that nobody cares about anyone's sats but their own. That's not to imply that runners are self-centered because we are not. Quite the opposite but people are really just not looking at your stats as much as you think they would be. Once you realise this, it is quite liberating 😊. I'm looking forward to going back through the videos on this channel now 😊
@ChrisBranchАй бұрын
Exactly right! It's liberating, and once we let go it helps us try things that we're nervous about. Happy training 😌🙏

Thank you! I really appreciate those tips. I struggle with doing strength training, but I'm starting to slowly work my way into a decent strength routine.

Thank you so much for this advice. Having taken up running 4 months ago- with the aim of running a 5k, I’ve only now come to realise that running alone won’t get me to where I want to be. I can run a 5k, but I’m not getting quicker or running further. Like you, I’ve just been running 3-5 miles 4 or 5 times per week. And, yes, they are all medium hard!! No strength training! No mixture of runs! No attention to anything but just running….🙄 I’ve subscribed and look forward to catching up on your videos. Thanks again!

Don't worry, we all start there! You would have built a good foundation, and now you can throw in some better training principles to progress more. Good luck with your training! :)

I am so lucky. The Cascade foothills are a 15 minute drive from my house. I take my dogs to an area crisscrossed with miles and miles of fire roads, and we usually have the thousands of acres to ourselves.

I am interested in running longer without fatigue and also get my Parkrun times faster. I was told a lot of Zone 2 running is key but one thing I was advised was doing hill repeats training at least once a week

Yoga ball works great for this as well. Tuck you feet under a piece of furniture and lay face down on the ball and hinge.

Unfortunately people do care. Men care enough to yell abuse and women care enough to stare when I run past. At this point I mostly just run on a treadmill because I’m rarely feeling tough enough to deal with that shit nowadays.

Not sure who you are running with or if you're just too much In your own head but people really don't care.
