Great stuff! I can certainly vouch for this. I went from not - never ever -running to doing a 70k ultra 16 months later. At the age of 83! This ultra addicted me, and 3.5 years later, I've done 20 ultras, with more planned for this year. My secret? I went vegan 20 years ago, my arthritis disappeared, and I became pain free. Best thing I ever did - for the animals, for my health,, and for the planet. Go Vegan!

Makes a lot of sense to me. I'm a hiker (not a runner at all - but kind of want to start). And the difference between hiking a couple of miles and a couple of days (maybe 20-30 miles total) is just the amount you listen to your body and the mindset to finish. Almost anyone can walk for an hour. But, what most people don't realize is that if you take a break when you need it, stay hydrated, keep eating, fix any clothing that's uncomfortable/rubbing, and take care of your feet, you can go 10-15 miles/day for days in a row. It's more about mindset and self awareness than physical limitations.

@ChrisBranch4 күн бұрын
I actually wouldn't go with the Salomons. The strap keeps slipping out on mine, so if I was starting again I would go with either the Leki or the Black Diamond. Mine are just about good enough where I can't warrant getting new ones, but I secretly keep hoping they break so I can get another brand 😂

2 nights ago i had a breaking point. Drank alone in my room, then went to a party and drank more. By 10pm i was out of my senses. Fell down multiple times, Hurt myself, bled out,my colleagues got me on iv line late at night, embarassed myself in front of people. My body is still hurt and aching alot, spent the whole day yesterday in bed. Cried. Regretful and embarassed. That was a wake up call for me. Ive decided to completely quit alcohol from my life
@ChrisBranch4 күн бұрын
It sounds like you're ready for it. I had so many times in my life where I drank way too much, but the final time I woke up with a voice saying 'This is not okay', and I knew that was it for me. I'm nearly four-years alcohol-free now, and I know that if I go back it would be just a matter of time until I drank too much again. I wish you the best on the journey 🙏

Funnily enough, I used to have a string bingeing tendency and have naturally turned into someone who easily stops at 1 or 2 out of choice. Despite this I’ve still given up completely because it feels so much better. As I became older I noticed that even one drink a week affected my mood. Hormone changes, especially for women, can totally change the effects of alcohol - we become much more sensitive to it.
@ChrisBranch4 күн бұрын
I think it's my consistent mood that keeps me alcohol-free now. The thought of being a bit more grumpy in the days following a drink is what puts me off the most! I'm not saying I'm always happy, but at least I haven't caused a self-inflicted reason to have lower mood. Best of luck with it :)

Hey Chris, great video! I'm wanting to run 100 miles in 24 hours. I'm wanting to do this sometime in May of this year. There isn't an event I'm doing, I'm just wanting to try and accomplish this on my own. I'm trying to build muscle, and run everyday at the same time, and so far it's going well. Although, I was thinking about how I'd manage eating on the day I run 100 miles. I did some calculations and I think I'll burn around 7k calories during this. So I'd have to eat about 10k calories, right? Im wanting to make a video of this, for my channel, and I think that I can make this video go viral. I've been planning this for awhile now, but I'm still working some things out. I made a community post on my channel talking about this. If you could comment on there, some advice, if you have any; it'd help me a whole lot. Thank you for your time.

Doing a sub 4:30 mile is a lot more difficult and impressive than a double marathon through even a century. The foot race century is dangerous due to sleep deprivation issues. Any athletic event that involving sleep deprivation should not be contested. In cycling the straight six day race was banned because of the hallucinations issues. Ironically, I am a cycling “ultra” endurance athlete with an above average 5 hour power. But I refuse to do races that take over 8 hours.

Why are they charging 750/month? It makes more sense they charge per what's produced. Also for 750/month you could do some half decent training courses short term expense. Like this video specifically, what did they really add that justifies that cost? They're not doing effects or anything, just changings the screens.
@ChrisBranch23 күн бұрын
Haha I edited this one; that’s why there are no effects 😂 And it’s not the _cost_ of learning to edit that’s the problem, it’s the _time_ . I really do have no free time! Long story about the monthly fee, but it works out very fair when I’m creating consistently, I just haven’t had the headspace to do that.
@MintRobin23 күн бұрын

@@ChrisBranch Thank you! Actually I have a question as well, not sure if that's something you have spoken about before or want to speak about: I'm thinking about transitioning to minimal shoes / barefoot shoes. I have just bought some Altras (Escalante 4 I think it was), but nervous about doing too much too soon and injuring myself more.

@@beehan17 The biggest jump is to minimal shoes, rather than cushioned zero drop shoes, so you should be fine with the Altras.
