In this video chronicling my pelvic organ prolapse repair recovery, I discuss what I am experiencing at nearly 1 year post surgery, and give a hopeful glimpse into what the future holds for women who are facing this surgery, or who’ve recently had it. I also discussed the importance of choosing the right doctors and care team to support you through this journey.

What a lifesaver your videos are! At 74 years old, I decided to have a vaginal hysterectomy and bladder and rectal repositioning due to prolapse I've dealt with since my daughter was born over 40 years ago. I appreciate your honesty and warmth. As you stated, we are not properly prepared for all that is involved in recovery. Today is Day 8 after surgery and things have gotten better. I came home with a catheter with minimal instructions, but my partner and I figured it out. It is now removed and I'm having regular visits to the bathroom and sleeping through the night most of the time. thank you for being real. Best wishes as you continue on your journey. In peace, Rose

To avoid UTI's, everytime you need to move your bowels, put toilet paper into the toilet bowl to stop the splash up. It's been a lifesaver for me since a nurse told me to do that many years ago. I have not had a UTI since that advice was given to me. Most UTI's are caused from the splash up! Great video thank you for sharing your journey ❤️

Thank you for taking about this. I had surgery (bladder sling and rectocele repair) almost 2 yrs ago, and don't feel the same since. I have the dribble after urinating and that was never an issue before so always question myself why I went through with this surgery. The post-op pain from my rectocele repair was truly intolerable and I couldn't even sit for 6 weeks, which was maddening. As you've stated, I really wish women would be educated early on all the things that impact our pelvic floor. It would save many of us, a lot of pain, suffering, mental anguish, and sleepless nights. I sincerely appreciate your openness in discussing a topic that unfortunately, not many women talk about. Thank you and stay blessed.

Hi. Thank you for reaching out. I’m so sorry to hear about what you’ve been going through. I am no doctor, but if you are still experiencing those struggles, it sounds like you need to be reevaluated. As far as the urinary issues, it could be that your sling is too loose or too tight. From what I have read, this sounds like a potential issue with your sling needing loosened. I also saw a Proctologist for the first year after my surgery, because I was battling hemorrhoids and fissures. I got a lot of relief from various procedures and treatment methods. If you are still having any rectocele issues, it might be worth visiting a proctologist to get their opinion on how your repairs were done and are healing. You are absolutely right that women do not know enough about our pelvic floor, or probably our bodies in general. If we better understood what impacts the pelvic floor, we could better avoid things that mess it up. Or we could at least try. It’s kind of funny, but my vaginal surgeon told me that he has had each of his daughters have elective C-section because he knows the damage that vaginal deliveries can cause to that entire area. I just think that that is a rather eye-opening Statement to hear from him. I hope you find some relief, and that you don’t just settle with having to deal with the issues you are currently facing. Get a second opinion from a different surgeon, and this time be sure that you go to a vaginal surgeon, if that’s not what you did before. I wish you the best. Reach out via email if you have any specific questions.

I hate that most of these doctors just don’t care. It is very very discouraging when you know something isn’t right and they ignore you!

I just found your KZbin channel and watched your 4 week post surgery video. I had surgery for enterocoele and internal rectal prolapse last Wednesday and was discharged on Saturday. Your story is very comforting because it helps me not feel so alone. Thank you for being courageous and sharing. More people should talk about POP. So many people suffer alone. God bless you!!❤

I had a pelvic therapist tell me it's essential for all women to work on strengthening the pelvic floor. I too had a horribly traumatic 1st delivery. 9 4.5 baby. 12 days late. Shoulder dystopia. Forceps. Baby resuscitation. Urinary damage. Catheter home for 2 weeks. Just a mess recovery. Now I have many issues from this and needsurgery but am terrified of recovery and making things worse. Your sharing all this gives me hope to see a surgeon. So glad you are doing so well now. ❤

Hi, friend. I’m so glad you found my channel. No one should continue to suffer, as there is definitely help out there. even if it did not require you to have surgery, or you were not ready for that yet, there is physical therapy and other treatments that can help your symptoms. Also, intimacy is not off the table, even if you do have diagnosed prolapses. Although it does make things more challenging, and sometimes uncomfortable. Please feel free to reach out to me via email with any questions you have at personalprolapsestory@gmail.com. Hang in there, and find yourself a good doctor. Start by searching for a urogynecologist or someone who specializes in vaginal surgery/repair.

Thanks so much for these videos. I had no idea prolapse was even a possibility. No one tells you anything. Now I'm scheduled for pelvic reconstruction surgery in a month. Nervous but just wanna get it over with. I can't find anything online besides doctors and ppl talking about kegels and physical therapy. Thanks again! So glad your surgery was successful! My Dr recommended to remove the uterus at the same time. I'm so uneasy about that. I read your body changes shape and orgasms aren't great. And they have to make a cuff to replace your cervix. So scary!

I have not experienced any change in orgasm and haven’t noticed a change in shape. Honestly, the hysterectomy was a breeze compared to the prolapse repair. I hope you’ll have the same sentiments after it’s done!
