Wow the way that guy effortlessly moved the truck w the forks was impressive. I thought it was gonna slip and come rolling backwards. He even raised the forks perfectly as the truck went higher up the ramps Love seeing Abby adulting, super cool Mara is hilarious Eric was like a kid in a candy store figuring out what all those spare parts were. I've gotta give props to that skidsteer driver...he made it look easy but the back of that pickup was moving sideways and up/down and he was moving his forks on the fly with minimal stopping to readjust while he pushed and loaded that pickup. 👏

To me you already have a tow truck, I would consider making a support truck that has a 4-link type setup with winches and kinetic ropes. Kind of like Matt having the morvair. This truck could be outfitted with a welder and tools and other recovery stuff again to assist your wrecker. Either way it is going to be awesome and a sweet build to watch!!!

You need a Motorized Wheelbarrow & that Datsun will fit the bill. I had a 71 & wished I never got rid of it. Be a great little shop truck or you could probly flip it. There’s a lot of KZbinrs fixing these trucks up & there’s a lot of comments wishing they had one. I would buy this one if I didn’t live so far away.

We had two of these with the fiberglass roof that we used as brush fire trucks. 250 gallon tanks. If i remember right the fire department bought them for a dollar from the government. They still had the rifle mounts in the cab. The compartment under the bed was perfect for hand tools. You didn’t get there fast but you could take them anywhere off road. Spent more than a few nights in one of these on fire watch. Wasco Rural Fire Department owned them but I think they where surplus and sold after they became Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue back in the late 90’s early 2000’s.

Eric and Mara I know you all are not Ford fans. I would like to see you swapping in 1 Ton axles with radius arms from a 05 and newer Super duty truck. They are plenty strong and then there is tons of aftermarket parts plus you will get 4 wheel disc brakes. Thanks for the great video

Eric for Mara on the recovery truck I would install a air ride commercial truck seat. I have had back problems and they way I got around stiff supesion is with a Bostrom air seat low profile then built a base to fit the truck or van.

Eric/Mara you two got yourselves treasure that is a puzzle at the same time, and both of you are going to have a ton of fun building this behemoth, Rory is right you have to collect all the parts you need and like, Eric as for axles you will be making another trip to your buddies place he has all the axles you will ever need and you can get parts for all of them , possibly a 1 ton rear and a Dana 60 front if you feel that'll be strong enough to handle 40" tires and the weight and where and tear of it being a recovery unit for the trail, either way it's going to be cool, and unique when your done and i'll see every video 👍

For the PowerPlant, I would drop a Detroit in it. You know and I know that Detroit built a lot of powerful diesel engines, and you couldn't hear nothing for about 4 hours after running it. But, that was a real PowerPlant. Good luck with the rebuild.

For the weight and oil leaks, Detroit are pretty gutless engines in the power department. Especially one small enough to fit in that truck. And he would have to file an environmental impact statement every time he ran it, for the oil leaks. Bad idea.

I have a 78 jeep j10 that I made a j20 a while ago. Its got a 455 olds and a th400 with a dana 20. I've always had a soft spot for the m 715's and j series trucks and Cherokees and wagoneers.
