Lately I have been throwing lots of synth and effects power at making my first trance song and the idea of using a MicroFreak did not come up in my mind at all. This is just a great video and I like your humor. Subscribed.

Thank you for the kind words and cheers that you like the quirkiness :-D It´s not a synth that´s really thought of when it comes to this genre so thats why it was fun to play with it. But its sooo freakin versatile so not surprised now that it worked. As for effects and such, these were made primarily with the free Supermassive plugin for both reverb and delay, so the simpler the better i guess :-)

Thanks for the feedback :-) I would if I had time but it takes quite some time just to create these mockups 😅 I´ll see If I can do it in a later video. But the process i did is just to record each part, like the bass a few times with maybe some difference it. Then hear if they sound right alone or layered. Especially for the synth lead parts, i sometimes did this several times to "Stack" them over each other with different eq, pan, reverb and so on. If you stopp the video when I show the daw it probably makes more sense what i mean here :-)

I want to see what you can do with a proper trance synth, like a virus TI. Also, prove everyone wrong that you can get great sounds out of the novation ultranova/mininova (ultranova was my first digital synth i bought specifically for trance stuff). Turns out i might have accidently nicked the lead from the oceanlab track for one of my own too... Genuinely thought id come up with something original.

Never laid my hands on a Virus nor either of the Novations.... would really love to though :-) If I ever get the possibility i´ll test it out asap :-D

Great video. I just got my micro freak a few weeks ago and I’m loving it. This is pretty good inspiration. Actually I’ve also been told my music sounds a bit like trance mixed with dark rock (Dark trance : Trance Rock?😀) which is starting to make sense especially my last few releases, hmmm

Thanks for the feedback mate :-) And congrats with the little Freaky thing, it´s quite a strange powerhouse you have there :-) I had mine for some years now and it took some time to get into, but when you do it´s really fun to play around with. And with an FX pedal like the zoom cdr 70 its a perfect combo to bring on a flight or trainride since both can be powered by AA and a powerbank :-D Trance and dark rock sounds like a perfect match.... I´ve heard some trance like synth riffs in both the Nightwish ish and Dimmu Borgir styles and it sure works there :-D

@@CBSoreidemusic Cool just finally got round to ordering one, do you run it through a DAW? I plan to hook it up to Ableton 😎 VST’s are cool enough I just want some knobs to fiddle with to help with my sound design education / journey ☺️

Sorry just saw the Logic workflow 😂 Do you write your own Midis or play out the Melodie’s? I’m taking keyboard lessons in the hope I can pick up some musicality 😊
@CBSoreidemusic9 күн бұрын
@@MP-mr8rj Good for you, you wont regret getting one :-D You can do way more with VST´s these days but there is something about tweaking the knobs and experimenting. And you learn quickly the logics behind what makes what sound, how and when while playing with it 🙂 And since you can import samples and presets into this one its quite a powerful synth 🙂

Somethign weird is going on with phase throughout the video
@CBSoreidemusicАй бұрын
Hmmm, so strange. Must have been something with the export I guess? :-O
@federicobersano2 ай бұрын
Dude!!!! Out of phase! 🤣All your bass (and a bunch of other stuff) is out of phase! EDIT- I realise now it probably was not an intentional effect. I think you connected the wrong cable: the Freak's out is mono BALANCED; if you use a 'splitter' you get left and right out of phase. Use the headphone out instead of the main out and the problem is solved. Very good sounds from the MicroFreak though.
@BobHoskins-nv8btАй бұрын
Why not post some of your examples?
@federicobersanoАй бұрын
@@BobHoskins-nv8bt Actually, I think what has happened here is that he has connected a stereo jack to the microfreak output. The output is a balanced connection, which means that connecting a cable that with a stereo jack on one hand and two connectors going to the audio interface results in having the same sound phase-reversed on the two channels. The short of it is that you can't connect a splitter cable to the mono out of the Micro Freak. At least this means that the widening effect wasn't intentional.
