It was fun redoing this in the ESP now that ver 2 is out. I'm so impressed by the ESP and the ability to tinker in bed with the Montage M without having to sit in the studio.

Nice way to show AN-X editing. Fast and succesful, IMHO

Another excellent video, thanks! I hope you plan to do many more videos focused on Yamaha montage M sound design. In addition to AN-X sounds, I’d like to see some videos showing ways to combine multiple engines in a single performance. I think this board has the potential to go way beyond what was done with the sequential circuits prophet X, and I’d love to see someone like yourself do a video exploring this potential.

Brilliant Scott! More Montage M re-creations please ! Let's show Claudio how it's done 😉- how about some more Kraftwerk... perhaps some sounds of "The Model" or "Autobahn" ? ... or my top fave synth track "What Is Love" by Howard Jones. I am new on the Montage M, so learning loads watching your videos.

Nice sounds, Scott, but if I could make a suggestion, rather than muting parts in your scenes, use keyboard control instead. While it won’t make much difference on this performance, on a more complex one you may find that the limited AN-X polyphony may get used up using the part mute approach, as the sounds are still being triggered, even if they don’t make it through the mixer. Switching off keyboard control on the other hand means that they don’t get triggered at all, so no polyphony is used. As a secondary consideration, using part mute also means that the sounds are instantly cut when you switch scenes, which wouldn’t be the case if you used keyboard control instead. This approach is also the preferred option for FM-X and AMW2 parts, for what it’s worth :)

I’d like to meet those people with their sterile ears that say the AN-X sounds sterile. 😂 Nice recreation btw.

I just bought xxxx and it sucks! I find that people who say these things do not dive intro the true power of the equipment they buy. I made sounds on my 3 Oscillator Roland FA06, a VERY digital keyboard, that people thought were analog. But it took some diving and study time to understand the filter and envelope relationships and plenty of trial and error. In other words...work. A famous old genesis songs says "you gotta get in to get out". Hard work is usually worth the time and effort.

Great work! Are you using software version of montage to capture the edit screens?? It’s really easy to follow what you’re doing with parameters , so I was amazed!!

No, that video is captured directly from my hardware Montage. You can't do sound design like this on the software ESP version of the Montage...yet.

And not "work" - I really don't understand if he ever heard how it is pronounced originally, how can he say "work". Pronounce it with e, just like in let or met.
