Huh. You know, I'm doing this too. Doing my own take on Mario Land 2. Except I find myself more interested in translating the feel of traversing the level from the original (or a cross between it and SMB3, which is the style I'm building in), as well as making sure the level's fun to play, than necessarily recreating all the elements one-to-one.

That's a nice remake but there's a lot of things that could be improved: -making interactive decorations like you did with the clouds and vines is weird and pointless imo, you already have built-in ground decorations. Also I don't remember there being anything like that in the base level -frozen coins are such an obvious reolacement for the fire blocks, they work exactly the same besides the ice physics, so I think it would work better -the sub-areas had a sky background, there's no reason to cover it with semi-solids - just letting the 1-up shroom under the blocls move freely would work and look better than putting it on a track - the base level is a tiny bit longer than the max lenght of an area in smm2, but you could just very slightly move the goal so that it all fits in the main area, you don't even need to cut anything from the original level besides the blocks that are used to reach the top of the goal, and you don't need a pipe to the sub-area for that. I haven't uploaded it yet but I made my own version, it looks better and plays more smoothly thanks to everything I mentionned above. Also I used ? blocks to replace the brown blocks, but solid blocks work too.
