I think I’d be cool to see a firehouse cooking video. You could call it “Meal Monday” where you go to different firehouses and they show how to cook some good firehouse meals.

RTO's work full time at the training center when a fire academy is in progress, but return to their stations and work their normal assignments when there is no fire academy. RTO's usually only work 2 or 3 different academies so the personnel rotate through.

@SouthMetroFireRescue As a 11 grader been wanting to join the FD or EMS in North Carolina. Is there any class that you would suggest for me to take my senior year. To be looked at as applicant???? Would love to here some suggestions. Thanks.
@TheOutlawMan2 жыл бұрын
Hey bud. There are volunteer programs for people your age, which I recommend you look into. Start studying up on your Hazmat Ops & Awareness, as well as basic fire science. That will put you well ahead of even many adult applicants. Places like SMFR will also require you to have your EMT card before you apply, or at least before your academy start date; so look at attending an EMT course during the summer break or when you can. A friend of mine was completing his senior year of hs while we went through EMT together, and at just 17-years-old. It is not easy, but if you are determined and have good studying habits you should do fine. Start working out consistently, too; weight training AND cardiovascular conditioning. When you are wearing full bunks + SCBA, you will learn very quickly how fit or unfit you are. Don't do drugs. Don't get arrested. Best of luck to you! - Volunteer Firefighter, in the process of earning my career slot.
@natedog27832 жыл бұрын
You go man! First off you will need your EMT which you can get a most if not all community colleges. Something that can help you is getting your fire fighter 1 and fire fighter 2 certification. If you have a department you know you want to work for reach out to them and ask them what you need and if they would sponsor you getting your emt.
