You can, but you will not be able to communicate with the coaching staff while on campus.

You can absolutely be checking out college campuses! Depending on your sport, the coaching staff may not be able to meet with you but there's still a ton of value in learning more about what you like and don't like about different types of campuses.

How do you go on a unofficial visit, like is there certain people you have to contact ?

A lot of this will depend on your grad year and if you've had previous contact with a coach. ALWAYS reach out to the coaching staff beforehand to let them know you'll be there (If you're not setting up the visit through them). You'll also want to reach out to the school itself as they can arrange a campus tour. Depending on grad year and what recruiting period the sport is in, a coach may not be able to meet with you, but you always want to let them know you're coming.

Not at all! Future scholarship athletes will 100% take unofficial visits as well.

Tape can be helpful to send a coach before you attend an unofficial visit. You'll always want to reach out to a coach before you're on campus to let them know you'll be there and see if they can meet with you.
