I have 3 RecTeq’s including this model. Big miss on this one… they didn’t design a cover and if you don’t have a roof water gets in that hopper and ended up ruining my motor. As always, their support was great to replace, but a huge pain in the ass. I bought another brand cover and so far so good. Lastly, it’s way too tight inside the smoker.

Awesome video as always, I have a stainless steel outdoor kitchen and a couple of my grills are stainless steel and the best cleaner I have found is 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar in a spray bottle. All credit goes to my wife, that is what she uses on our appliances in the house. Just di a deep spring cleaning on my outdoor kitchen and it works grat and is cheap.

If you want a challenge, try assembling one of these grills kzbin.infoUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I am a technician by trade and the technical instructions were easy to follow. No reading, just pictures and diagrams. You assemble everything in 5 steps from the bottom up. Step #1 - Assemble 4 Legs and Wheels; Step #2 - Add the Front Cover and Cross Bars to support the frame; Step #3- Assemble the Burner to the Lower Grill Housing and install the knobs; Step #4 - Install the Side Burner and side shelf; and Finally Step #5 - Install the Upper Char- Broil Lid, Cooking Racks, 3 Burner Railings and Lid Handle. That's It and you're done in about 2 hours and 40 minutes. You have the option to pay for assembly after making the purchase - I would strongly suggest that you take it if you don't want to be bothered with this challenge. The only tool I used was a Phillips head screwdriver and a standard pair of pliers. The grill cost a little more because of the side burner, but this is what makes the grill so versatile and popular among backyard grillers. Have fun and enjoy!

Why spray before the burn off? Seems counterintuitive…
@DeadBrokeBBQ Жыл бұрын
You can burn it off first and then add the spray but honestly I have burnt off so many grills in my life I just care about getting a little seasoning inside so it is easier to clean up. I used to do it that way but all you are doing is burning a little bit of machining oil and just because it is machining oil doesn't mean it blows away. It burns on to the metal the same way as pam does. All you are doing is burning it up and I am not in the mood to runa burn off for another 2 hours to end up with the same results. why season them? they get scrubbed every cook. you're trying to prolong the pit. grates are replaceable and won't season.

@@DeadBrokeBBQ I am not a fan of Traeger at all. I want to do a forever out door kitchen. So do you have thoughts on the Memphis ? Heston grills , want to go all stainless. But for pure cooking lsg. Look like the best for the money. My only concern is do they putout to much smoke. Wife is not a fan of heavy smoke
@DeadBrokeBBQ2 жыл бұрын
@@NuricheWeightSystem I never have had either the Memphis or the Heston but both are nice pits! Ok so here is the deal the LSG is a smoker but you will NEVER over smoke anything on a pellet grill. LSG is coming out with a new "grilling mode" so my guess that will be more focused on a standard temp and not as much temp swings that help generate SMOKE. People that always complain about a pellet grill having temp swings do not realize that without them you do not produce smoke. That is why so many of them smoke then stop because they are designed to just cook. The LSG is a smoker and never stops even on the down cycle. But it is some of the best BBQ I have ever made off a pellet grill. People rip on me during my taste test because I never get really excited because I grew up with live fire cooking and had an offset for years before I ever ran a pellet grill. Plus you can use a light fruit wood flavor and that will help back off the smoke also! So far on this pit I have done Tri Tip and some baby back ribs. Both turned out excellent and this little 1070 did great!!!! Clean up is a pain on stainless if you want it to look super new all the time! I polish mine up from time to time but not super fussy about a little patina color tint to it!! I like Traeger but I always figure that they are overpriced some. Anyways I like so many pits it is really hard for me to tell someone to buy a certain model but I stand behind the LSG because I seriously was floored the first time I fired it up. Plus that pit is made of 3/16" or 7 gauge US steel and that is even thicker than Yoder at 10 gauge! Good luck and keep me posted on what way you decide!!
@stevewalter26722 жыл бұрын
The temperature swing theory isn't entirely true. Pellet brand, species and whether or not the pellets contain bark also plays a large part in smoke production. I've tested no fewer than ten brands of various and same species with my Req tec 700 and Yoder. Almost the entire Lumber Jack line of pellets produce good smoke and flavor. Lumber Jack mesquite and Knotty Wood plumb produce exceptional smoke and flavor that almost rivals my stick burner. Not all pellets are equal regardless of price. Lumberjack in my are $9.99 for 20#experiment and see for yourself. The results will really show you the truth. I've been running pellet smokers for 8 years some good ones some not so good. I've found that Req Tec is damn good for its price range and unbeatable customer service. I'm not paid by them or consider myself a " fan boy " just someone with experience and can recognize a quality product. Good luck and happy grilling. 😊
@stevewalter26722 жыл бұрын
As far as swapping pellets the extra 2-3 minutes it takes to scoop the pellets out isn't a big deal to me I'm not that impatient. I don't really get caught up in different flavor of pellets other than Lumber Jack mesquite and Knotty Wood plum there isn't a big enough difference in flavor to warrant changing all the time. I live in Michigan where it can get pretty humid at times and I've never had an issue keeping my hoppers full and leaving them outside in the elements either. No pellet swell or any jams.

OK so I think I say this with every pellet review but here goes. I don't have a gog in this race. There, I feel better. With that out of the way I have to say she looks nice. Really like the out front hopper doubling with the front shelf, Damm smart. And boy that's a lot of stainless, pretty to look at. And a bitch to keep clean but NO paint to maintain. @@DeadBrokeBBQ I'm sorry if the "b" word caused any problems. Honestly I agree with the late great George Carlin that when used correctly or in a appropriate manner most words are acceptable. But since not all except that while in a public forum I try to behave myself. Try, but not always succeed. Hey I'm happy for you on all these reviews on these products but how about some cooks on these baby's. After all it doesn't matter how big or small the casters are or how much stainless steel it has if it doesn't measure up when doing the cook. I have a idea. Considering many folks who are seriously looking at these cookers are newbies to bbq how about getting the boys to do some first time cooks on them. Let's hear their thoughts on how easy and nice to cook on them. And with popa bear looking on not to much can go wrong. Think about it. I got a few cooks planned for each pit but on some I plan to cook while I talk about other cooks and show those in the same video! The reason why I need to shorten up and not just do recipe videos is because I have so many pits that have come in this year all at once! SO my plans are assembly, burn off review, cook and talk more features, then an opinion video with several cook results. Everyone is filming how to make a brisket for beginners these days and KZbin promotes my reviews more than my cooks so that looks to be the direction I am heading.
