Really liked that first look video. Very helpful. I am picking my 1250 up this week. I can't wait!!!

I just ordered this as well. The hooks on the back of the hopper are to hold the top rack when not in use. However, like you said, can be used for anything else!
@andrewblee28763 жыл бұрын
Back of the hopper hooks are used to store the upper grille when not in use.
@StokedOnSmoke3 жыл бұрын
I’m not 100% on that at this point. I heard they may change those (recteq source told me…) well after I shot this video so not sure 🤷🏼♂️
@steveb85033 жыл бұрын
I believe those hooks you show at 4:10 are to hang that 2nd grill grate if you're not using it.
@StokedOnSmoke3 жыл бұрын
Yeah someone else mentioned that here in the comments but my inside contact at recteq told me they may change those hooks up and/or get rid of them so I’m not sure at this point 🤷🏼♂️

Is this one not lined with the red RTV sealant on the inside like the 590?

What’s up with the plastic on the controller screen? Is it meant to be peeled off? Looks like it’s breaking up.
@WoodrowWoods20073 жыл бұрын
So is it dimensionally any bigger than the RT-700 or did they just add a shelf?
@hiltonhead033 жыл бұрын
First of all, the improvements are spot on. I would love an easy way to empty the hopper for extended time between smokes or changing to a different smoke pellet. Also, if I smoke a thick ribeye low and slow, then want to do a final sear, just how would you suggest I get that done? If there was an option with a stand alone or attached sear station, it would be a smoker delivered from heaven.
@StokedOnSmoke3 жыл бұрын
To be honest…my go-to for what you just described is using the recteq for the low and slow part then sear on a screaming hot cast iron in the kitchen. If you wanna do it all on the grill tho is just pull it off, maybe loose foil tent it while you crank the grill up then sear. But a hot skillet on the stove top is so much faster.

Buy a Camp Chef with the sear box on the side.

When you smoke the ribeye - do you smoke until just about med rare and then sear it? How long does it take to smoke?

I don't know why they didn't make both grates sliding grates and why did they remove the internal light source - I hope you have the option to have SS burner cover - I was really hoping they were going to make their next grill oval shape like the BFG2500 - you get sooo much more cooking height
@StokedOnSmoke3 жыл бұрын
They removed the light in order to make the 2nd shelf as big as possible. IMO…that light never did much good in past models. It wasn’t very bright.
@suresure2673 жыл бұрын
After a year of cooking now that light is useless, the cover is smoke stained and doesn't emit much light anymore
@steveb85033 жыл бұрын
@@suresure267 You just pop off the glass and clean with an SOS pad. It's pretty quick to clean.

I was wondering what the changes were so I appreciate you sharing this. I would like to know if the grease diverted is sold separately to retrofit into the 700? I think most of these updates are things that definitely will give the grill a more upscale feel. I added a second shelf to mine already and I’m super happy with the added Space. I noticed they also gave up on trying to convince us the light was a good idea hahaha .
@StokedOnSmoke3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about the grease diverter. I’d hit them up and ask
@davez59413 жыл бұрын
Looks like they also gave up on trying to get you to think the SS difuser worked just as well when it warped.
@FrankieKennethL3 жыл бұрын
@@davez5941 it sucks they’re not going to sell the new onesies stand alone tho. Maybe if rmore people complain they do
@MichaelBlocksom3 жыл бұрын
So I was going to get the 700. But then they released this. Is this really worth the extra $$??
@StokedOnSmoke3 жыл бұрын
For $400 more you’re getting better WiFi (if you care about that), integrated 2nd slide shelf (some people weld their own into the 700…), both an upgraded cast iron heat deflector and grease diverter (that I don’t think they’re gonna sell separately for the 700…) and lastly…after having cooked on it a while now it def heats up much quicker and gets much hotter than the 700. But….700 is still a great grill tho.
@whyme32863 жыл бұрын
Can you order the grease diverted bar from recteq?

Very nice upgrades. This beast makes my stampede look like a baby, 😂 Mine has some serious staining down the front. I tried cleaning it at first. I quit and figured it just makes it look like a smoker should. Clean but a little greasy. Ya know.

The Stampede is my fav recteq ever and I still cook on it all the time and recommend it over any of my other recteqs all the time. Such a great grill.

I think most cooks would be done with that top rack out unless all you cook is ribs. Really doesn't appear to leave a lot of space otherwise.
