He knows more than anyone else that the end is near, that he is soon going to lose Enjolras forever. Yet he lets him pursue his goals - even if his faith in the power of revolution isn't as strong as Enjolras'. But he believes in Ejolras and he is ready to give up on his life for him. "If there's no one beside you, / When your soul embarks, / I will follow you into the dark" George Blagden once sang - and i think no one else other than he could've ever encapsulated the essence of Grantaire's feelings so well in a few lines.
