I love Chamorro food so much that I drove over 100 miles today just to have a little red rice and kelaguen. I really appreciate the effort you are putting into sharing your knowledge and culture with the world. I will definitely be trying several of your recipes! Thank you truly for all your hard work.

@@GuamMamaCooks It's quite far, but worth it to me! I live in Los Angeles, CA and there is no Chammoro food until you are nearly in San Diego. My favorite restaurant is just north of the American/Mexican border, but I would love to be able to cook at home. Thank you for the tip. I will look at the website.

If I can’t make my own. Is regular masa harina ok to use with your recipe?
@GuamMamaCooks2 жыл бұрын
Buenas Lydine! You can use regular masa, but not the same volume as in my recipe. Regular masa is very fine compared to the one I made (coarse). I've never made this with regular masa so I can't give exact measurement for it. This is a large quantity recipe so I'd first suggest cutting the entire recipe in half.....THEN start with 1/3 the amount of masa in the (halved) recipe and see how it thickens then add more if needed. Let me know how it goes!

You might want to try to look for a scoop that is 1/3 cup in size to make it faster to make the tamales.

This has to be the most complicated recipe for a side dish. You’ll be eating tamales gisu for months!!!
