Fireworks are explosions of numerous small pellets of black powder called stars. The main ingredient in fireworks is black powder, which explodes when ignited (lit on fire). In addition to black powder, firework stars contain different chemicals or metals to create certain colors
Firecrackers are rolled paper tubes filled with black powder (also called gunpowder). They might also be filled with flash paper and a fuse. When you light the fuse of a firecracker, the fire burns along the fuse. Eventually, it reaches the powder.
Black Powder
Invented in ninth-century China, this mix of potassium nitrate, charcoal, and sulfur is what makes fireworks (plus guns and explosives), well, work. In a traditional firework a lit fuse kicks off the reaction, igniting the powder in the bottom of the shell. As the potassium nitrate burns, it lets off oxygen. The O2 helps the charcoal and sulfur burn too, producing hot gases that hurl the firework into the sky. Seconds later, a delayed fuse reaches the center of the payload, igniting the main shell to unleash a spectacle of light and sound.

I still don’t understand why most states that is already fire hazardous and is in drought but allow aerial fireworks I wonder why California can’t be like that because stands operators will be making money for their fundraising.

No way. California banned anything that explodes or flies in the air in 1955. They were trying for a state-wide ban on everything, but agreed to keep fountains and pinwheels. Too many wood shingle roofs, too many trees. It's hard enough keeping safe & sane legal. Fire officials would love to get rid of them- if they could.

@@KioBoomDiekin Well, keep in mind that without TNT you might not have any fireworks in CA. Because of the Red Devil/Pat Moriarty scandal in the 80's, cities were banning all over the place. There were only 4 cities left in Orange County still selling by 1990. Today there is ten. TNT has the ways and the means to deal with politics and fireworks haters a small outfit could not. Besides TNT you do have Phantom, DFS, and up north Johnny's Fireworks Unlimited who sells World Class. And Jakes still wants in. It's not so bad.

@@starshell1000 I live in Orange County but firework unlimited is bit far from me if not I would be spending my money there instead of tnt fireworks because this year I’m looking if the prices are high but in 2 months I’m going to Canada on drive back in Washington state I’m hoping to get some small 200gram cakes bunch of novelties and fountains maybe one shell kit I don’t know what my budget yet so ya.

Geisha is the way to go if you want to spend a little more. Geisha are the best 6inch canisters shells in my opinion… For some fun whistling effects. Go with American Glory Canister Shells. Those are also very fun Canister Shells.

You mention sparklers in California, keep in mind wire sparklers are NOT legal anywhere in the state- only wood. Been that way for about 40 years now. Too many thrown in the air and landing on wood roofs. Wood ones don't travel as well when tossed.

Thanks for the walk through! I used to think they were just another overpriced store but red apples end of year sale is pretty clutch if you don't have a wholesale connect. I usually avoid most stores just bc it irritates me to see the prices of compliant/consumer products being more than the "good stuff" if ya know what i mean. However, the flint store is 35 minutes from me so if it weren't for having the access to what I can get I'd probably buy a large portion of my show from red apple at the end of year

Red Apple has really good deals. You just have to watch for their sales. But it seems like they always have a sale going. The whole month of November was insane for their Black Friday all month sale. I got killer deals like 4/1 case of Unmatched shells from Brothers for $169. Cakes like Spider Nebula from Winda for $109 a case. And they have wholesale on their online site.
