In Texas we bring out our griddles now. Weather cooling off and mosquitos going away. 8 months of heaven facing us now!

I am looking at Appalachian backcountry cooking recipes for this winter and this one is at the top of my list. Great job Neal and Amy. I love my Blackstone and Weber, and now I need a cooktop added to my BBQ island.

Yep, this is gettin' to be Chili, Camp Stew and Red Beans and Rice season for us folks in Alabama. But Conecuh Sausage is the only sausage that will do, hands down, no question about it. Tried the others but for this southern country sausage seasoned palate, none of the others will do. And the okra takes it over the top!!! When I'm basecampjng in the southern Appalachians backcountry during the Fall season, I use a very similar red beans and rice recipe in camp but do a bit of prep at home to cut down on the cook time at camp. Got some great tips from this vid to kick my camp cuisine up a few notches. Love this transition to other cooking styles besides the flat top.

I use my Bella instant pot to make the rice and red beans. Only takes 5 mins for the rice and 1 hr for the beans/sausage. Then I freeze dry them separately to use later. (My family is anti-rice and it's to much for 1) just add water and I have my favorite.

You definitely have my approval! Great idea with adding the fried okra. I’ll be trying that👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Boss, can you mail me a quart of that goodness please 🙏? Love the idea of this series, well done guys. For those that don't care for slimy okra, I'd use jalapeño in it's place. Same effect more flavor bang?

We are new to the griddle world. Do you really need to put away the griddle for winter?
@TheFlatTopKingАй бұрын
Absolutely not...but some dont have porches or covers...some experience extremely cold weather, some have second homes etc..many many reasons why people put em up
@joeprebish7140Ай бұрын
Put your griddle away? Away, not used? No no no. It goes in the garage where it can be used in any weather.

Not a rumor, but yes unproven at this point. Questions remain on this topic and there is some evidence of higher than normal aluminum levels in brain studies. No way to know at this point. Personally, I use stainless and American made cast iron for cooking. I don’t own any aluminum cookware.
