It's a normal cycle in F1. McLaren was unbeatable in the 80's with Senna. Williams took over in the 90's, but when the active suspension was banned they fell behind and renault took over with Schumacher and Flavio and so on and so on. RB is lucky with Verstappen because he can mask the flaws of the RB. Perez is really struggling right now, and he is a very good driver.

Remember the McLaren MP4/18? I honestly feel the same thing (kinda) happened with the RB20. They "overdeveloped" a concept and pushed a bit too much for what they can handle. You can definetly push the limit but there's eventually a point where it's not really worth it or it becomes am unstable car/concept. I understand why they did it, but it's going to cost them now that Ferrari and McLaren seem to have gotten a grip to these regs.
@LawVS6 ай бұрын
I think it's more to do with diminishing returns. Perhaps the RB19 could've halted their Singapore upgrade for 2024 to have a couple more tenths in their pocket.
@dylanburston74536 ай бұрын
The suspension and a teams understanding of it, is where its being won/lost. Mclaren adopted the pul/push rod setup RB had last year, and Ferrari has kept their Push/pull setup. It means they understand them alot more than the teams that jumped on the RB bandwagon without understanding it. Now that Ferrari and Mclaren are so close, that weakness over bumps for RB is being exposed. It would have been there before, but the car was so much faster it didnt matter. It could take the time loss for the better pace elsewhere. They cant do that anymore
@WhiteG606 ай бұрын
@@LawVS Diminishing returns is the only reason they went with the new sidepod designs in the first place. Horner said at the end of the year last year that none of the upgrades really did all that much all year long. Everyone thought he was just being cheeky, but if it wasn't true, why make the radical side pod changes? The regulations have a ceiling, and it just so happened that RB started out a lot close to that ceiling than everyone else (TD39 not withstanding). As people caught up, RB was already bouncing off the ceiling and had to make a drastic change to try and break through it. Except it seems like they just bounced off it harder. And I know this is likely just a coincidence, but what was Mercs problem with no sidepods? Bouncing/bumps and the simulator not matching real life. What's RB's problem now that they've taken away 80% of the sidepod? Bouncing/bumps and the simulator not matching real life.

Don't you think the Red Bull curb-riding issue is caused by their extreme anti-squat/anti-dive?
@salim_abid_6 ай бұрын
Did you see what Horner said about RB not suffering the same issue and getting answers from them?? Do you think it's fair that Redbull and RB might be sharing info and therefore it's basically like having 2 teams working for 1 team?

@@LawVS thanks, I always see a video topic then rush to comment before I watch the rest of the video lol. I do hope it’s investigated because it’s a big issue if you have twice the sim data, twice the amount of engineers/aero data etc as other teams
@salim_abid_6 ай бұрын
Also, To touch on Ferrari as you did towards the end of the video. The Sainz remaining professional is definitely the route to take, He’s rumoured to be going to Williams who aren’t exactly a winning team in this era of F1, And sure they had success in the mid 2010’s with engine dominant cars and theirs being supplied by Mercedes but soon fell down the order again as regs changed etc With the 2026 regs looking to be more engine focused perhaps Mercedes can be really competitive again as with Williams but what I believe is more likely to happen is for Sainz to look at rejoining Ferrari when Hamilton leaves (2027/2028 perhaps) A few years at a not so competitive team isn’t the worst thing for him. 2025 might be really difficult but if Williams can be a top 6 constructor in 2026 and beyond then Sainz will basically be repeating his stint at Mclaren (best of the rest, Show your talents and see what seats are available when Ham, Alo, Perez etc may retire, Even Hulkenburg is going Sauber/Audi and so if he retires after a year or 2, Audi can revisit the possibility of Sainz joining them.

When comes qualifying for the remainder of the 2024 season, it could be a battle between Max and Oscar.

@michaelcobbin6 ай бұрын
@@dylanburston7453 No, but Ferrari needs to find more straight line speed. McLaren currently sits between Red Bull (straight line speed) and Ferrari (agility). Ferrari will do well at Singapore and Las Vegas.
@dylanburston74536 ай бұрын
@@michaelcobbin Dont know where Ferrari sits on straight line speed get, as they brought the wrong wing to Imola (too much drag) and the other race was Monaco. Last year, Mclaren were good at high speed corners, and Ferrari low speed. They are now strong in both. I think now the difference is long vs short corners. R&D will play a big part. If they are anything like last year, Mclaren will bring a couple of massive upgrades that improve the pace alot. Ferrari brouht the one massive upgrade, but then did constant more frequent progress with big, but not massive upgrades. As long as neither of them do a Merc or a AM (put on ineffective parts/ put on loads of tiny disjointed upgrades that ruin the car), it will be close
@michaelcobbin6 ай бұрын
@@dylanburston7453 If the gap does really close between the top 3 teams, qualifying will be interesting for the rest of the season, as all three drivers are in with a chance to get pole.

The last three races? Those results can hardly serve as an indicator. Max in his Red Bull was "miles ahead" of the pack in Miami (people seem to forget that Lando was gifted the win by Bernd Maylaender's safety car "f*ck up"). We haven't seen the RB19 last year at "bumpy" Imola. And the "roulette" that is Monaco? I'd rather wait for "proper" race tracks before I predict some "seismic shifts". Let's wait and see how things pan out in Montreal and Barcelona.
@LawVS6 ай бұрын
Of course. That's understandable; but it's still less insurmountable for other teams than last year. Max is circumspect is the car's biggest flaw and the team need to fix it as the RB20 doesn't have the bulletproof asset the RB19 had.
@aoife11226 ай бұрын
@@LawVS It is quite possible that the Red Bull design has "peaked" in '23 ... about time the others are catching up. But this season should be still very much "in the bag" for RBR. Things could get really spicy next year though.

Max to Ferrari 2025
@visionproductionsnz78286 ай бұрын
As I said on one forum many months ago, when empires fall they fall quickly - in this case the chasers suddenly get a sniff of a win and the dominant lose the initiative. It look like Horner's thinking is preoccupied by politics and internal resignations and future signings - he's lost the plot in the Perez question. Opportunities v threats - Horner has an opportunity to bolster the team for 2025 which isn't always this easy. 1. Perez's contract is up this year, and 2. Sainz is a free agent and would probably accept a one plus one year contract. Perfect! No? Doubt that Sainz would be a large upgrade on Checo? In what season did Carlos fail? Competitive at TR, not as inferior in the Reno battle as the points showed, leadership at McLaren, far better at Ferrari than predicted. The only credible negative is the different favoured characteristics of car versus the Verstappen model. Sign him!
