Nice report! What do you think if part of the reason Ricciardo was brought into Visa RB was to develop the sister/junior teams car with a nosey front biased car? Making the junior car closer in performance and drivering style to the main car. This along with Ricciardo will move to the RED BULL car with a stellar season. I suspect that Sainz remains an option for the Red Bull seat if Max happens to leave the team and/or Perez is gone. It feels like Marko was talking about Red Bull when he mentioned "a much better team." This is all assuming that: 1. Ricciardo is gone (seems likely at this point), 2. Tsunoda isn't really being seriously considered for that seat (also seems likely), and 3. either Lawson has the other seat already or they've passed him up as well. I think Red Bull view Sainz as a proven, capable driver but possibly are hesitant to pair him with Max, or they simply don't want to sign him until they know they don't have any better options. That's an absurd statement to be honest, because in a good car, Sainz is a consistent driver and a race winner.

Antonelli filling Hamilton's seat will be interesting. It's a very big seat to fill considering it is the seat that has consecutively belonged to two 7x world champion drivers. It is quite a legendary seat and I'm curious as to how that will pan out for him and the team. I understand Carlos' decision to join Williams as they used to be the 2nd best car at the start of the turbo-hybrid era using the Mercedes engine, and over the last 15 years, the best driver at Williams has been picked to driver for Mercedes (Rosberg, Bottas, Russell), I have no doubt that if Toto knew Rosberg was going to retire in 2016, he would have tried to get Max in that seat a year prior. It will be interesting to see if Russell can handle being the leader and battling against someone that has been given such a special seat. I'm not sure if he'll be more or less competitive as it sometimes seems as though his motivation is to simply beat his childhood idol - who he has such close access to -- more than it is to beat the other drivers on track. He may have to find a new source of motivation if Antonelli is who Toto thinks he is

I realize that you are young and therefore may not actually share my recollection, but when Perez was in juniors and rumored to be coming into F1, he was widely viewed as a pay driver. Arguably he has been one of the sport’s most successful pay drivers, but the current situation regarding keeping him on at least until Mexico should come as no surprise.

Good news that the geometry of turn 1 at Monza has been improved. This should make it a bit trickier to justify driving over the top of Lewis Hamilton from behind. I can see Red Bull alternating the drivers over the next few rounds, so they can technically say they have done what they said they were going to do, but not keeping to the spirit of what was tacitly implied.

Who knows if the asymmetrical braking helped them or not in previous seasons... Mercedes doesn't need those goofs if their development continues in the right trajectory. Newey seems to have taken lessons from the Sainz clown school of how to overplay your hand while negotiating. Max will be there too until he dumps Jos.

Max had pole position for the first seven races and converted 5 to race wins. So he had the fastest car hence the points lead at the beginning. RB's sudden drop in performance is astounding. Almost like they stopped doing something special. Very similar to Ferrari when they got caught with their shenanigans and had a similar drop off . Now that RB suddenly dropped off the rest of the grid caught up and are taking points amongst themselves whilst Max enjoys a nice lead. If Lando wouldn't bottle it up so much Max lead would be smaller. None of this should matter since Max can put a Haas on pole right? Isn't the Max factor worth like half a second LoL. Max started crashing the moment he stopped having the fastest car. It's all their for everyone to see so my point stands.

Riccardo's original chassis was bad, Iwasa's times in Japan proved it. With Iwasa's history he should have been within half second of Yuki. If there were doubts about Riccardo, Racing Bulls would have given him the same settings as Yuki to make a comparison. If they didn't its because they knew the chassis was bad.

Let me count the teams who use quali data from cars 1-2 iterations ago to compare drivers today.......there's ....and.....no one. No one would use that pointless data marker that has zero meaning. Yes if Liberty Media holds a meeting with you about your driver choice for an upcoming race what they say does matter and doers have bearing on the teams. You no idea the amount of money and leverage on tap for these companies. This is a business first and foremost and a sport second. The driver choice for the American races matters immensely on how much revenue it generates. So if Liberty says make sure Checo is in the seat for Mexico he'll be in the seat like it or not because the difference of him not being there can be a loss of $millions in TV revenue, ads, merch and ticket sales all of which RB gets a cut of. So when you think Liberty has no influence on anything and holds meetings for no reason whatsoever...you do not understand how F1 is run.
