Red chutney | Easy Red Chutney For Dosa and Idli | Breakfast Chutney Recipe
Red chutney is a popular condiment in South Indian cuisine, especially paired with dosa and idli for breakfast. It is known for its vibrant red color and spicy flavor profile. The main ingredients typically include coconut, Kashmiri dried red chilies, tamarind, garlic, and onion. To prepare red chutney, these ingredients are blended together to form a smooth paste, sometimes with the addition of water to adjust the consistency. The chutney can be customized to suit personal preferences by adjusting the amount of chili for desired spiciness.
Ingredients:
Red Chutney Without Tomatoes
2-3 dried red chilies (adjust to taste)
2-3 garlic clove
6 curry leaves
1 piece jagge
1 teaspoon tamarind paste (or medium grape size) Salt to taste
Water - 3/4 cup(or as needed)
For Tempering:
1 teaspoon oil
Instructions:
Blend Ingredients:
In a pan heat oil add garlic, and red chilli, roast for 1-2 minutes
In a blender add soaked kashmiri chillies,garlic cloves ,curry leaves,jaggger6 and add salt to taste. Blend it.
Add a little water and blend to a smooth paste. Adjust water to achieve the desired consistency.
Prepare Tempering:
In a small pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add curry leaves, red chilli and sauté for a few seconds.
Combine and serve.
Pour the tempering over the chutney and mix well. Serve the red chutney with dosa, idli, or any South Indian breakfast.
