There's a one-off show called Can't Smeg Won't Smeg, that you might want to check out once you've completed this season (there's still a little more stuff you need from this season before you watch it though!) Back when this was airing, there was also a cooking show called Can't Cook Won't Cook on the air which was about teaching two people who couldn't or wouldn't cook to make a dish. It was hosted by TV chef Ainsley Harriet (who you probably best know for the "Give your meat a good old rub" meme!). Can't Smeg Won't Smeg is a Red Dwarf themed version of that show. As an interesting aside, Ainsley Harriet also had a cameo in Red Dwarf. In fact I think you've seen the episode he's been in already! You'll be doing well to recognise him though...

Late to the party but whatever; I always imagined that Cat and Kryten were in on the lie at the end, that the Boys from the Dwarf actually got together to give the Rimmer they knew a proper sendoff without acknowledging the truth between themselves to save Arnie's ego now that he's meant to be Ace. After all those years and everything they've been through, Mk2 Hologram Rimmer found his spine and grew into someone with self-esteem so that in the end his crewmates really did appreciate and miss him. We've had plenty of examples of his being a weaselly backstabbing stain on humanity worthy only of their contempt (along with affirmations all around that they'd dump the git just as much as he'd ditch them in a pinch) but right near the end he managed to earn some respect and affection. The thought helps me sleep.

Actually, he had been filming Brittas and Red Dwarf concurrently for 3 seasons (1990 - 1993). He expressed after series 6 that he didn't like doing Red Dwarf anymore (particularly series 5 & 6, mostly due to behind the scenes issues, mostly to do with producers and bigwigs) and in 1993 he said he wasn't interested in doing Red Dwarf any more. There was a 3 year break for Red Dwarf between 6 & 7, during which he continued to film Brittas.
