This is a fan edit of the Red Dwarf XI episode, 'Give & Take' (as you, no doubt, already gleaned from the title...xD) My aim for this was to tighten up the pacing, getting it close to 24 minutes, and do a lot of colour alterations.

I think the gags have been reasonably good. It's just the pacing that is a little off. But then again, I felt the same about season 7 in the original run too.

These episodes were really good. No where near the quality of series 1 to 6 but they never could be without rob grant helping with the writing. I mean series 10, 11 and 12 were very good but the writing needed tweaking. For example, in this when lister was asking cat for a kidney, there was no need for the “in a minute,” line. If Lister had gone straight to asking cat very hesitantly for the kidney instead, it would have been better. This happened a lot in series 10, 11 and 12. The jokes dragged on too much and there was dialogue that ruined the flow and laugh completely. And the film after series 12 was very disappointing. A little too stupid even for red dwarf standards.

Took me a while to warm up to the new seasons.. But season X is actually really good. Watched it sevral times now. Sure it feels diferent. But everyone is older now Season 7-8 and nine are the wrakest for me... Season 1-6 is Genius

8/10 (there was no 9) sucked. I own all episodes and series including 13. TBH, when they added the woman is when it fell flat on its arse for me because she simply didn't fit in, and the stories were weak. 11 it started to come around and 13 (the single episode from UK TV Dave channel) actually had the old magic back.

The lead character and his cat’s descendent are played by black men, but nobody talks about racism, the show doesn’t hint at it, there is no preaching about the sins of the white Rimmer’s race, there is no inequality, and that was part of the planned show…to just make it characters and not about demographics. If the female introduced is then made to be just another character, it gives more laugh potential, whereas if the female character pushes a feminist agenda of any amount then it removes all that was equal. Sometimes people just need to have fun entertainment

Watched this several years ago, so not sure which parts were cut, but considering that I only enjoyed series XII of the recent stuff and now this, I'd say you've done a marvelous job! Colour correction helps too.

I don't get why people dislike the new series so much. Granted, I thought Back to Earth was shit for several reasons, but series X-XII I thought were a great return to form. Honestly they would've pissed people off no matter what but I think they had some balls not just pandering to nostalgia by bringing back Kochanski, Holly, Ace, and others all at once but actually writing new stories to settle you back into the show before they further caught up on our former characters. Sure, you could hate the new stories but at least they're making a genuine attempt at being original. Everybody can have their opinions, though I'll retain mine, and I think people are being too cynical for their own good and entering these new series expecting to hate them.

I think I know why it's not been received well. It's too damn polished and it's writing and style is for a different time. And because Red Dwarf was such a great fit, the fact that it's not seen as such now is one of the reasons why some fans are turned off. Comedy has evolved, TV has evolved. Red Dwarf just doesn't do it anymore.

I've said this before but it's sad that these new episodes only work when the fans fix them. It's frightening that some people think modern Dwarf is even a patch on series 1-6. EDIT: At least the special effects are finally good and I love the use of music from series 1-2.

Red Dwarf is a case of not quitting while it was ahead. They continued to make them even though the actors have aged and their good ideas have already been done. The show would gone down in history as a masterpiece if they hadn't made these late episodes
