@randallflagg370010 ай бұрын
What Jason outright says is that he has forgiven Bruce _for not saving him_ , but that he hasn't forgiven him for not killing the Joker (something that Bruce almost did, but Superman managed to talk him out of it before it was too late). I agree that in the show, Jason's bratiness was over the top, he was really annoying at times... but I guess that they needed a reason for the Titans to dislike him. If he was a huge sweetheart in the show (which he kinda was in his scenes with Molly Jensen), then Deathstroke wouldn't be able to manipulate the situation so well...
@jim-bob309310 ай бұрын
@randallflagg3700 "hes a brat cause the writers dont have the talent to write better" isnt an excuse that should ever be settled on. Especially when comics like White Gold Truth have a great stepping off point for natural confict. I wouldnt say jason wants revenge on Bruce cause Joker isnt dead. That sentence does not add up. Jason definitely wanted Bruce to see his way of Justice was to little to late for the victims. And wanted Bruce to prove he would right that wrong and pick family/loyalty over his morals. That much is clear from his monolog.
@randallflagg370010 ай бұрын
@@jim-bob3093 >"I wouldnt say jason wants revenge on Bruce cause Joker isnt dead. That sentence does not add up." But that's exactly what Jason claims, both in the "Under the Hood" storyline and the "Under the Red Hood" movie... "Bruce, I forgive you for not saving me... but why? Why on God's Earth (breaks down the door) is *he* still alive?! ...Ignoring what he's done in the past, blindly, stupidly disregarding the entire graveyards he's filled, the thousands who've suffered, the friends he's crippled! You know I thought...I thought I'd be the last person you'd ever let him hurt. If it had been you that he had beat to a bloody pulp, if he had taken you from this world, I would have done nothing but search the planet for this pathetic pile of evil death-worshipping garbage and sent him off to Hell! [...] I'm not talking about killing Penguin, or Scarecrow, or Dent. I'm talking about *him.* _Just him._ And doing it because... because he took me away from you." If this was just about Jason wanting Bruce to see that "his way of Justice was to little to late for the victims", then he wouldn't have needed to list the other Gotham rogues (in "Under the Hood" he also lists Clayface & Riddler), because they are all murderers. It was just about Batman not killing Joker for killing Jason.
@jim-bob309310 ай бұрын
@@randallflagg3700 revenge and justice are not synonyms, that why. If Jason wanted revenge on Bruce for not doing the murder, he would want Bruce to suffer his pain would be the end goal with Joker the instrument. Thats why that sentence and motive doent work. Jason can want revenge on Joker, the crowbar beating is a prime. And wanting him dead. He wants his justice. 'I would kill him for you, why wont you kill him for me?' In less words. The whole third act is a crossing of the A&B plot, jason business view of justice and crime fighting crossing into the personal. He wants his justice for himself, and Bruce is the gun so to speak. Its why Jason and Bruces conflict is so interesting they are freakishly similar but for on moral line. Bruce puts morals before family/loyalty and Jason dosent (well at least till DC tanked his character)

(Nightwing is 175 lbs, 5'10) Jason was a scrawny kid as Robin.Red Hood is not. I don't think they should have introduced the Red Hood storyline with Jason in Titans. But they could have made a very compelling RedX stoyilen, which could have tied in to the stoy of both Dick, and Jason.
@stevenandrewchua54211 ай бұрын
Honestly one change that I thought would make Red Hood work in this show was just making him the villain of season 3. Have Jason go crazy from all the gaslighting, torment, and emotional abuse that the Titans put him through to the point of nearly killing himself. He breaks, and becomes the Red Hood to prove that he’s a better man and a better ‘hero’ than they’d ever be. His plot would be to get revenge on the Titans, to the point of say, killing Hawk. By the end of the season, Jason is defeated not with brute force, but with some actual fucking compassion. Dick would be able to talk Jason down and get him to see reason. Then with the Titans acknowledging that they were ultimately at fault for the whole thing and that the way they treated Jason was completely terrible, he would be sent off to get the help he needs and also serve his time for what he did. As for where Batman is the whole time, just say that he’s been dealing with Ra’s al Ghul and the League of Assassins since season 2 and hasn’t returned yet. He could even come back at the end of season 3 and help turn around Jason. Edit: Since the Red Hood mantle might not work as well, Jason can be made Red X instead and explain that it was an identity that Dick once used to get close to Deathstroke for information or soemthing.

I was hoping for a side story of Rose and Jason before both returning to Gotham for a elseworlds Titans 'death in/of the family' and THEN see Rose actually become Ravager, maybe the introduction of an Ugul and the lazurist pits. Maybe see Rachel become the darke purple cloaked Raven and use her powers to seek revenge against the Joker. But whatever on that waste of a What If.... The casting was great, the acting was good enough for me, I wanted to at least know more about the the characters. Who TF are Hawk & Dove? Titans was my first exposure to them and now I sympathize/get understand and relate to characters with that type of background. I knew about Donna Troy and Conner Kent, but not once in my 25 years of reading comic books have those names mattered at all outside of Titans/ Teen Titans books. The people representing those characters in Titans made Hawk & Dove, Donna, and Conner matter with strong performances despite the bad scripts. Same with the actresses portraying the sisters Starfire and Blackfire. The cinematographers and directors made every shot beautiful to me despite them applying the Zack Snyder make everything dark style it still look good. Actors who understood the roles, people behind the camera who got and created the visual style. The writing as so just so fucking bad. Spoiler to S1: Rachel having her heart ripped out, then crystalized and embedded in her forehead and thus becoming Raven was cool and a great origin story, I enjoyed the actor who played humanoid Trigan as well. But that never really went anywhere. Titans Deathtroke and Scarecrow were well acted, I liked their angry white trash Dr Light as a fresh takes in such a BLEH wrote universe was such a disappointment. The writers had decent enough starts to the stories of the season but the endings were such cop out shit writing. Jericho is a psychic/ghostly being in S2 GTFO . Same with Bruce Wayne trying to die from smoke inhalation, fuck Titans was such a waste of talent because of the shit writers. What a total waste of good talent all around, if the writers only knew who to end a chapter or story the show could have been great instead of the disappointment it was.

IMO you went too easy. As a Red hood fan I felt personally hurt by some of these decisions. 1. You have Jason the son of a single mother kidnap a woman's daughter and force the mother to be a suicide bomber to send a message in like episode 2. Wtf Jason in his wildest moments never did anything close to this. 2. Why do you have Jason who watched his mother die from the inside out because of a drug addiction becomes addicted to fear neutralising drugs. 3. Jason would never in a million years work under someone he viewed as evil, it would have made more sense to have Jason forcing scarecrow to work for him since Jason sees himself above the whole cat and mouse costume play after becoming red hood. 4. The Joker's dead and Bruce killed him, destroying any and all threads connecting the character to his original comic counterpart.
@eonnexus9 ай бұрын
I think the worst part about this storyline is that i can see SO MANY good IDEAS about it as an exploration of a Red Hood what-if storyline What if Batman gave in and killed the joker after Jason's death? 1. He'd likely give up being Batman permanently as he can no longer trust himself (something he admits to Jason in the original story) 2. Jason could likely still come back as Red Hood due to his own morals, but not have as big of a drive or plan surrounding it due to Bruce having avenged him already (which is what he wanted, as he already forgave Bruce for not saving him, just not for letting Joker live) 3. Nightwing taking up the mantle as Gothams protector and the rivalry between him and Jason as a result of their different methods. 4. Tim Drake saving Bruce's life when he realizes that he planned to kill himself, getting training and becoming the next Robin as a result. I can even see the "potential recruits" being a result of Bruce dealing with Jasons death poorly, and looking for something to fill the void, before Dick confronts him about it and they have to acknowledge his horrible grieving methods. All of this could make for a GREAT alternate Red Hood story, but the execution here was just BAD, like the rest of Titans was tbh, but there was SOMETHING there.

Though due to the writing, he doesn’t capture the empath Jason was in the comics. Like he would let you live if you’ve committed a crime so long as you’re not a rap#ist or a mass murderer. Like protecting women from abusers was a big deal to him. This is exemplified in “The Diplomat’s Son” issue where they deal with a rapi## who got off because his father was a diplomat. Because of this, one of the women this dude SA’d committed suicide because she couldn’t take it anymore. Jason finds him, and when Batman arrives, it’s implied that he tossed him off the building. This issue arguably led to Jason gradually straying away from Batman’s no kill rule.

I find it so funny that arguably the one batfam character who should not be casted as poc was. A huge part of Tim's character comes from him being rich, white, and privileged. Whilst casting him as black is fine, I truly do not understand why they felt the need to change his backstory and make him poor. Whilst you have a bunch of characters who are canonically poc and often whitewashed, like Dick himself, the main character not being Romani
@Drums_of_Liberation3 ай бұрын
Last I checked, Dick wasn't 100% Romani. And even if he was, Romani can still be white. I'm Puerto Rican and I'm not brown. Does that make me any less Puerto Rican?
@blacklivesorblackvotes298525 күн бұрын
There was virtually no reason to make Tim black. They just felt like it. The actor isn’t even good either, so don’t even bring up “best actor for the role”, not even by a long shot. Race swapping is just dumb and pointless. No creativity comes from it. Literally could’ve just made a different character or something.

Why didn't raven just read jason's memories to see if he actually drew crosses on her mirrors? I know that sounds like a massive invasion of privacy, but it's also the best way to clear things up. Raven is a telepath and memories do not lie. She could've just been like "Prove you're not lying and let me read your mind to see if you're telling the truth". Jason would've been proven innocent in like 10 seconds but they have her screaming that she "knows for a fact he did" when she actually doesn't and has the ability to objectively prove to herself that he didn't do it.
@liamstrack11 ай бұрын
Well in a previous scene when she attacked him he says: "You need to get that shit looked at. Like a fucking priest!" Then the crosses on the mirror thing happens and I'm pretty sure she just figured it had to be him since no one else has ever basically shamed her for her demonic powers. Plus she didn't seem to like Jason to begin with. And when you don't like someone and something offensive happens, something someone previously insulted you over, you'd immediately think it was that specific person. She let her feelings cloud her judgment.
@Ash-Winchester11 ай бұрын
@@liamstrack That's another thing. Isn't raven supposed to be like the most emotionally stable person due to the fact that her demonic powers are tied to her emotions so she has to spend all of her time suppressing them? She basically lives like a prequel era jedi.
@liamstrack11 ай бұрын
@@Ash-Winchester I'm not too informed on the comics side of things but I think she isn't suppressing her emotions in Titans because she hasn't reached a point where she thinks that's necessary. She still thinks she can control them in her own way.

The thing I don't understand is that most on screen DC stuff is centred around and focused on the Bat Family...but pretty much all of them gloss over or do a terrible job with some of the major events. Like I don't think I've seen a good DC universe of movies/shows that does a successful job with The Killing Joke, Under the Red Hood, Death in the Family, Tim Drake becoming Robin, Barbara becoming Batgirl, Bruce becoming Batman, Bruce and Damian, Dick leaving and becoming Nightwing, Dick becoming Robin, Jason becoming Robin, Stephanie Brown (Just, like, in general). We've had good versions of some of these events but none that are all set in the same universe. The closest we got was Arkham but by the time that starts (With Arkham) half of the events have already happened and we only really got the aftermath of it all.

* The essential problem is they rushed it. Jason didn't hide and plan and have his rage over the Joker still being alive fester. He was just the same whiny kid he was before. Not to mention that he's so stupid that he keeps working with Scarecrow despite knowing he's being used. * The worst aspects of Frank Miller's Batman were present in this version; let's also not forget he had Dick kill a wolf with his bare hands in the woods as a training exercise. * Season three really begged the question why this wasn't a Batman story. And yet it was still the second best of the show.

Personally I love long videos in general. Maybe you could do a long video on something else, like "Titans doesn't deserve that respect" or something. The only season I sort of liked and sat threw is season 4, and part of it is it's the least Dick Grayson focused, so was less annoyed by his portrayal and felt more right being a smaller character who was the leader and telling Superboy not to be impulsive.

And then the episode with him as Robin came out and it blew my mind, he was perfect, even in season 2 when the writers were doing their damndest to ruin Jason as a character, he was still great because of how good Curran Walter's acting was. And then season 3, not even Walter's acting could save the character from that writing, just holy fuck. I didn't ever finish season 3, never will, it was a garbage show from episode 1, Garfield and Jason were practically the only saving graces and the show and they fucked both of them so goddamn hard.
