I am very happy John is back but thank you so much for 10 years Josh!! You kept this band alive, the band could've easily broken up after John left the band in 2009 but you stept in and filled in huge shoes and helped keep this band going. Josh gained a huge fan in me and I wish nothing but the best for him in his next musical chapter. Once a Chili Pepper always a Chili Pepper!! Take care Josh ✌

I worked with Brendan at The Barnet Press in North London in the 1970s when we were junior reporters. He made a lasting impression on everyone who met him. He stood out as an original thinker with a wonderful, surreal view of life, which he expressed eloquently in conversation and writing. I lost contact with him after he left and often wondered where he was and what he was doing... It would have been amazing to meet up 45 years on...I still have an 'essay' he wrote from Hollywood and posted back to Barnet.

Here's the way I look it. Here is what makes the Red Hot Chili Peppers so unique and amazing. Let's say I'm listening to Blood Sugar and By The Way for awhile which are two albums that have frusciante on guitar than if I eventually need a change in my music than I can listen to Freaky Styley or Uplift Mofo Party Plan (having Hillel Slovak as guitarist) and than if I want to change my musical style again I could listen to One Hot Minute (Dave Navarros style) and if I even want to listen to another musical approach I could go to I'm with you or I'm Beside you with Josh Klinghoffer. The way too look at it is this band never gets old, they're timeless because they've had 4 unique guitarist with 4 different styles but yet still having that Chili's sound in all of it. Making it very hard to get tired of listening to this band all together. It's like 4 different bands yet all of the same band together as one

Take my words and turn them into signs that will survive Because a long time ago, I knew not to deprive It's safe out there and now you're everywhere, just like the sky And you are love, you are the love supreme, you are the rise And when you hear this, you’ll know it’s your jam, it’s your goodbye [Chorus] Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the drummer drums He's going to play my song To carry me along Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the boatman comes to ferry me away To where we all belong [Verse 2] We all crossed when we were feeling lost it's just the time Kateri cried the day her lover died she recognized Because he gave her a life of real love it's no surprise The nights are long but the years are short when you're alive Way back when will never be again, it was a time It's going to catch you so glad I met you to walk the line [Chorus] Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the drummer drums He's going to play my song To carry me along Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the boatman comes to ferry me away To where we all belong [Interlude] Come get it Hey Hey Yeah Yeah Yeah [Chorus] Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the drummer drums He's going to play my song To carry me along Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone And when the boatman comes to ferry me away To where we all belong [Bridge] Let me live so when it's time to die even the reaper cries Let me die so when it's time to live another sun will rise I said yeah! Not long after my father died in September of 2013 I heard this song. He died at 62, with a lot of plans not begun and a lot unfinished. This became the first song that really reached through the numbness of grief and let me feel it. Because it was the chili peppers rocking out. because it was half celebration. It was how I felt; grateful, sad, celebratory and maybe even a little crazy. It took me a while to say it, but that’s what this song means to me. What it will always mean to me, and maybe the band never sees this, or knows, but I needed to say it anyway.

Early home to countless first wave LA punks - X, The Nerves, Zeros, The Weirdos, The Bags, The Dickies. Brendan was an early booster of RHCP - after he'd become a booker at Club Lingerie in the wake of the Masque's closing in 1978.

One day after looking back people will appreciate Josh's contribution and his own uniqueness he brought. I've really been loving the I'm Beside You tracks. Some should have been released on the main Disc while others on the main disc should have been cut fr and we are talking about I'm with you just like OHM with Dave Navarro.

LETRA 'BRENDAN'S DEATH SONG' Live and die before I get it done, will you decide. I'll take my words and turn them into sounds, it will survive. Because a long time ago, I knew not to deprive. It's safe out there and now you're everywhere, just like the sky. And you are love,you are the love supreme, you are the rye. And when you hear this, You know its your jam, it's your goodbye. Chorus Like I said you know I'm almost dead, You know I'm almost gone. And when the drummer drums, It's gonna play my song, to carry me along. Like I said you know I'm almost dead, You know I'm almost gone. And when the Boatman comes to ferry me away, to where we all belong. We your cost, when we were feeling lost, It's just the time. Kateri cried, the day her lover died, she recognized. Because ya gave her, a life of real love, it's no surprise. The night's are long, but the years are short, When you're alive. Way back when, will never be again, it was a time. It's gonna catch you, so glad I met you, to walk a line. Chorus Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone. And when the drummer drums, he's gonna play my song, to carry me along. Like I said you know I'm almost dead You know I'm almost gone. And when the boatman comes to fairy me away, to where we all belong. Come get me! Hey! Hey! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone. And when the drummer drums, its gonna play my song, to carry me along. Like I said you know I'm almost dead, You know I'm almost gone. And when the boatman comes to fairy me away, to where we all belong. Then we live, so every time you die, he's in the revert sky. Lay me down, so when it's time to leave, another sun will rise. I said yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I said yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! And when the drummer drums, its gonna play my song, to carry me along. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Like I said you know I'm almost dead, You know I'm almost gone. (I said yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!) And when the boatman comes to fairy me away, to where we all belong. (I said yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!) Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone. Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone. Like I said you know I'm almost dead, you know I'm almost gone.

I listened to this and a few other songs almost everyday when my very ill grandfather was in hospital with a big chance he probably won't come out. I didn't know what to do so I turned to music to help. And it did. I was still really sad but this helped me get through and words can not describe how happy I am to say my grandad got through and is well again

In recent years, we would often talk about how it kinda crazy it was how us, and ALL of our friend group, could pick up right where we left off regardless of how long it had been since we last spoke or saw each other. Neither of us really knew why that was, but today I came to that realization -- it's because we never actually left one another. No matter how many miles away, no matter how much time we spent apart, we always carried a piece of each other with us. You didn't leave me then, you certainly haven't left me now. Dan, I don't have a fucking clue where life's about to take me, but I do know a couple things: 1. I'm gonna carry a piece of you with me and do my best to ensure this world never forgets who Daniel Thomas McWilliams is. 2. Somewhere, somehow, someway, I'll see you again. And when that time comes, I can't wait to pick up right where we left off. My friend for life. My brother forever. I love you, Dan.

Makes me cry everytime. Best thank you song for a funeral
@caimanaraujo479 Жыл бұрын
This is probably the song that means the most to me. It reminds me of the days my relationship with my mom was simple and the closest it ever had been. She wanted thia song to play at her funeral, I think she still does, and I think the lyrics fit perfectly to her personality. After 2012, I started going through a bad moment in my life, everything went ugly, and specially my friendship with her got really damaged. It was mostly my fault, and I will never forgive myself. We are at way better terms, and she is my best friend again, the best moments of my day are when I'm with her. But things will never be the same. It will never be that simple, innocent and happy, ever again. Still, I will enjoy the most of the time I'm close to her, so when the time comes for us to part, even the reaper cries.
