I love this. A technical issue turns into classic rock n roll, proving that those amps are NOT decoys, and John can sound just as good with nothing but a guitar, cable, and amp. There’s not too many bands who still do it this way live.

I haven’t been watching a whole lot of new shows but I think it’s a combination of the new tech (who’s prolly getting fired) and more eyes being on John than ever. Now their young fanbase is huge and has their phones and documents everything, it adds a lot more pressure to the beginning of a new tour after over a decade. but imo there’s shit that’s happened that’s been inexcusable from the tech so far.

Halfway through before solo you see John coming up To Anthony mic and they are arguing from what I could see John wasn’t singing at all and Anthony was like “sing bro” and John was like ok idk what you mean.. then he says it again and John misunderstands him as coming to sing on Anthony’s mic and Anthony is like wtf are you doing and John must have been high or upside down brain from the problems at the beginning lol then he ripped the best unique solo ever two seconds later lol… epic performance

It ended up being the pedalboard I believe. He had to pull out his smaller “promotional” board.

Definitely still the board. From what i can tell it seems like he asked his tech to just plug his guitar straight in to the amp (the silver jubilee) that is why the solo was slightly less distorted than it normally would be when they play cali live. Regardless though it was a brilliant performance and John seems to be handling the malfunctions very well but hopefully his tech can figure out a permanent solution to the issues with the board.

If you hear the solos on the Gretch vs the Fender he sounds more comfortable on the strat. Also he used a different Gretch in Europe than his original so transporting could’ve possibly been an issue, and Dave Lee said it was a bitch to find parts for it if something breaks.

Bullshit?! What? This is pure, raw, authentic live music. Those fans got to see the rare treat of a legendary guitarist going straight into their amp with nothing in between, and proving beyond any doubt that those amps are not just for show. You’d be surprised how many rock bands have decoy Marshall stacks up on stage with them nowadays. This technical issue turned into the purest level of authenticity you’ll see anymore!
