This is absolutely normal. He almost died from drugs, and this is just a couple of years after. If you listen to his interviews you can clearly hear that he had a hard time. He lost alot of the normal control you have of your body with all the drug missuse. He is concentrating so hard that he don't realize what his non-important body parts are doing. I drooled on stage and I was completely sober. Everybody came to me after and told me about it, I didn't have a clue. I do believe he was sober.

You're mistaken. At first: John is drooling during many shows - look for Off The Map, he is acting the same way during the same song. I think it might be caused by his problems with the jaw. He had all his teeth removed. Besides, as someone said, he is really into music in way that casual listener cannot even imagine. I don't think he gives a fuck what would anybody think about his spit. And just one more thing... Everybody can have worse day. But it doesn't mean he is high...
