You do realize that SRV was covering Jimi Hendrix's version of Red House, right?

Great version, but pretty sure Jimi did it before SRV, and he was covering someone else

He is doing a takeoff of Gary Moore's version

@@brunonanni6219 very true, but Taj's interpretation of Red House is more reminiscent of SRV's version to me too

Puberty sucks. Give him some time and I think his voice will settle down to a smooth blues gravel singing voice
@eodnhoj8387Ай бұрын
@@thelonesomefisherman7425 he should try speaking the lyrics in the manner of a leonard cohen rather than shouting them and barking himself hoarse... another top adult guitarist i follow called miguel montalban has exactly the same problem...he keeps on flogging the dead horse as well...tell someone they can't sing for toffee and they just try to prove you wrong...but they only end up proving you right... however many years down the line it takes to do so.
@DDFreemanАй бұрын
@@eodnhoj8387 Taj sings different songs in a different manner. Haven't you noticed? On this one, that is the way he thought it would be most appropriate. I agree with Taj. Not with you. AND I cannot stand trying to listen to the talk-"singing" of Leonard Cohen. Seriously, you don't know what you are talking about at least half of the time.
@eodnhoj8387Ай бұрын
@@DDFreeman you've always been the great apologist on his behalf dd but as they say facts is facts... do you really suppose that taj got to where he is now in the music biz from his singing?... that tennessee whiskey cover that he played so brilliantly at age nine was guess what...it was an instrumental... i hazard an educated guess that if he'd sung on it it would have had him flop horribly and sink without trace into the great musical void... in that respect he was very lucky because it was that performance that spawned his fledgling career and led him on to doing what he does now... as a child i used to sing in a couple of choirs...but there was rigorous selection to get in as a soloist... i made it but many others didn't... some sang like angels sweet and melodious but other poor souls spouted forth disharmony and quacked like ducks.
@DDFreemanАй бұрын
@@eodnhoj8387 Oh, yes, absolutely, he has gotten to where he is because he can both guitar and sing - as well as lots more !! He is adorable - loves to have fun and cut up. Has sailed through numerous live interviews !! HE IS AN EXTREMELY TALENTED GIFTED SOUL. And in this performance, he pulls out all the stops. Read the other Comments. We all love him - except for you. Why do you keep torturing yourself here?

he always seems to play red house really well and this is the best i've heard him play so far...i've said previously that i wanted musicality... and the guitar work here had it in abundance... some nice little flourishes and variations in sound and attack... like with the wah... he seems to have worked out a more intense and edgy guitar sound and he threw the kitchen sink at it too which always helps to maintain my musical interest... the only down- side is the voice over yonder... 'cause that key won't unlock the door.

Yoo I've listed to your music.. and you guitar skills are insane 🔥🔥, you don't have to take this but I think you'd be more big if you mixed you style with more Modern day music, for example Jessie Murph, again if you don't want it's calm, I mean who am I right Anyways just some advice from one artist to another 🔥🔥❤️

Taj, I see that you really like Stevie Ray Vaughn- we love and miss the hell out of him here in the Dallas Texas area, but since you also admire him so much you should check out the song “ Hey Gypsy” by Bob Seger - which is another of my top favorite artist- I know that you will really like “Hey Gypsy”. Jimmy was also spectacular.
