Ok, so watching as an optometrist at the innovative end of my profession, I am impressed. My practice routinely uses IPL (intense pulsed light) to treat the inflammatory side of dry eye and is shortly to commence photobiomodulation for retardation and potential improvement of dry macular degeneration. Our training is that pulsed equals goggles and no rejuvenating serums beforehand. After the age of 40 our retinal photoreceptor mitochondria (cellular batteries is a good analogy) just do not “hold the charge” ( think electric vehicles, worthless after a number of years as the batteries are so degraded. Blue light is literally a killer, it speeds up this degradation. Never use blue light therapies near your eyes!! Your excellent piece fleetingly refers to blue but please highlight this. We get so much exposure in our daily lives that we should all wear both a uv block and a blue blocking filter in our spex.

REF: Rosacea. I am 66. I discovered an easy solution to help my rid rosacea in my 40's. I keep a box of baking soda in my shower, sprinkle about 1/2 teaspoon in my hand and GENTLY rub on the rosacea foe about 15 seconds. I did this everyday till it cleared up (less than a week) and now do it about twice a week for maintenance. No, it does not tear my skin. I have suggested to many and it works!!

Red light made a huge difference on 2 little pink moles on my chest. 1 disappeared and the other is getting smaller so I have hopes. Had I known that was going to happen I would have taken pictures. I had some darker moles and they have flattened out and lightened tremendously! I was shocked because I did not expect that. I go to a tanning salon that has red light and I go every other day and they are 10 min long sessions.

This was great info plus a refresher. I’ve been using Omnilux face & décolleté masks for about 2 yrs, 3x/wk, for 20 min. per treatment. I called Omnilux in 2022 & asked if one 20 min. vs. one 10 minute treatment done 3x/week was ok & was told it was just fine so I have been doing it that way since my purchase. Results have been finer skin pores, a decrease in (but not completely gone) hyperpigmentation/sun spots. LED has definitely been a great addition to my skincare routine!

Thanks soooooo much for this information. It’s been wicked helpful. There is so much conflicting and contradicting information and it’s very confusing. Especially when it comes to if we should use a serum before red light or after. The mask I have a home says not to use anything until afterwards. Then I have a red light wand from a different company and they say to use a serum ( theirs or course) before using. In fact, it actually won’t turn on unless you use a serum or something to moisturize your skin.

As a biochemist I'm a little confused about the description of the cell "breathing in" molecules from the extracellular space.. The import and export of molecules in the cell is a highly regulated process involving lots of different receptors. How does swelling of the cell induce cellular uptake?
@gregoryludkovsky51859 ай бұрын
just another pseudo scientific jargon
@calista12809 ай бұрын
The light is pulsing, so it's not the cell swelling after treatment. Although I would like to see the difference in tested cell uptake measured between constant red light treatment vs pulsed treatment. Perhaps there's more swelling pist treatment, leading us to believe it received more benefits.

For the past two months, I've been using a red light therapy device from Future Form Official. Being in my late 50s, I decided to try it primarily for joint pain relief and to improve my skin tone. I dedicate 20 minutes each day to it, focusing on my face, neck, and upper chest. To my surprise, my chronic migraines have almost vanished, allowing me to sleep peacefully through the night. Additionally, my skin has become more radiant and youthful-looking. Despite my age, I've always been complimented on my skin, and this therapy has enhanced it even further. The experience is incredibly soothing, and I wholeheartedly recommend red light therapy for its diverse benefits.

Good for the eyes,maybe? But certainly not for the brain... I also get migraines and wouldn't wish them on anyone. I've reduced mine substantially, by eating protein with every meal, especially if sugary sweets or desserts are involved. Protein helps keep your blood sugar levels stable. Low blood sugar seems to trigger my migraines. Stress tablets with multi Vitamin B complex also helps a lot with stabilizing blood sugar and reducing Cortisol (stress hormone) that may trigger migraine episodes. Hope this helps you as well! There are a lot of affordable LED masks on Amazon. So long as the wavelength is in the right range, they should be just as effective as the more expensive masks no? 630-700nm ?

Speaking of micro-needling, I've heard conflicting opinions on whether one should "wait 24 to 72 hours after derma rolling, to allow the repair process you just stimulated"~ OR, is it more useful/beneficial to treat w/red light therapy directly after creating those tiny wounds all over your skin? Please pardon the question if it's already been answered in another video post, but I've personally not come across it yet. I will continue to research, of course.

I have recently picked up a bottle of Maysama to add to my red light therapy, thanks to your recommendation. I love the serum on its own and I’m looking forward to seeing the results of them working together.

Let me know how you get on x

I have done the same. If you are going to take the time to use red light, why not maximize the results?

Wow - a science and a skincare lesson all in one and how lovely is Bev. Great video Gemma. You were a great team for this video. So tempted to buy the pulsed light panel and the Rooibos. Might have to save up for it.

For me I use it one day then the next day I allow the therapy to heal then next day do it again n so on. When I did it everyday it made skin sore n red. What I do for my skin is spray amla juice mix with aloe vera juice ie mass amounts of vitamin C n E. Then use my collegen spray then place the collegen film on skin and soaks into skin. Then I spray skin with amla mix juice allow to dry then I use red light or infrared light therapy 10 min. Then after use I use the same amla juice mix spray, i then moisturise.

Really interesting. I have resisted the serum until now, as getting great results with my mask anyway, but am definitely going to give it a go now.

Questions for Bev: 1. Do some people just not respond to red light therapy, and do we know why this might be? (I used the currentbody hand perfector unit for more than 6 months, as directed, with Maysama serum, and there was no visible change in my skin. In fact, my hand skin looks better since stopping!). 2. Is there a risk of fat loss from red light therapy? Thanks 😊

I've read that red light therapy is used for fat loss, Google it, and there is a risk of losing fat in the face although I don't know if this is true. I probably only use 3 times a week for shorter period of time and when you're not accessing daylight. I've just bought a small once I have no idea yet if it's going to be useful, I'm hoping my eyesight will improve, but I'm still on the fence about red light therapy until I see evidence personally.
