Suprtoe's going to Harvard to study... train... law... or something. IDK. Anyway, I just wanted to see it and... meh. Good trip, though.

All jokes aside, if you wanna know about the monument at 0:25, that's the Bunker Hill Monument. It was completed in 1843, five years before construction was started on the Washington Monument, so it's actually older! And that cable-stayed bridge at 0:33 is the Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge, it was made graceful on purpose to echo the monument. While the "pirate ship" is the USS Constitution, the world's oldest ship of ANY type still afloat. It was part of the First Barbary War and the War of 1812 (where it defeated FIVE British warships).

Well now I'm annoyed that I didn't go see the USS Constitution instead of Harvard.

My 8 year old son follows you religiously so we were very excited to see you come to our town and take the Red Line!! Unfortunately there are very often shuttle buses during weekend work. We hate buses too!! Our Green Line just got extended into Somerville past Lechmere - the first subway extension/revision since 1987; you should check in out.

Facts on the lines you rode: Orange: - Was an El line in the old days, similar to Chicago, Philadelphia, and of course NYC, but was closed and torn down in the mid-late 80s due to a major modernization project. Oak Grove to Community College was restructured to ground level and the Southwest Corridor (Massachusetts Avenue to Forest Hills) didn't exist until the late 80s, before it was another section of the Boston El; the Silver Line BRT routes SL4 and SL5 replaced it in the early-mid 2000s. - The underground portion (Haymarket to Back Bay) remained intact, but were rebuilt and renovated in the 70s and 80s. - Assembly station is the only infill rapid transit station in the T. Red: - The only subway in the T to split in branches and one of the three outside of NYC (A line); the other two being the Chicago L Green Line and the SEPTA Broad Street Subway. - Home to the deepest station in the T which is Porter. - Home to the only bus tunnel in America which is Harvard (sadly you missed it) - Porter and Harvard are the only rapid transit stations of the T to use split platforms (North Station for the Green Line uses it as well but it's a light rail). - Quincy Adams is built under a parking garage. - Ashmont provides connection to the Mattapan High Speed Line, a heritage trolley line the uses vintage trolleys.

Very nice video. I really love the boston subway. My top favorite subway line is the red line 1800 series. The red line is one of the oldest subway lines in the world.

The service adjustments were for a collapsed parking garage at haymarket, they had to close the green line after haymarket and the orange line runs past it.

You might be interested to know that Boston used to have lots of "raised rail" as you like to call elevated sections. The Orange Line was once completely elevated, save for downtown. North side was replaced in '75 with the current Oak Grove end, and the south side was replaced in '87 when the SW corridor opened. To wit, I wasn't even 5 when the latter opened for service (October baby here).

MBTA are having shuttle buses for track work and bridge work, the red line has been getting many runaway trains and derailments. The Orange Line in July 21, 2022, a train caught fire nearby Sullivan Square, Somerville and replacing the old train with new trains. Green Line with many wire sparks, Blue Line Electricity Outage, not anymore. So the Red Line and Orange Line have new trains. If you need any help, ask me, I’ve been taking mbta for 10 years.

16:31 that bridge is called the Longfellow bridge this bridge caries the red line cars, and people, like the manhattan bridge. I also like to call it the bosotn version of the Manhattan Bridge, because it carries trains people and cars, and the Boston version of Manhattan is Boston, the Boston version of Brooklyn is Cambridge.

You should try the commuter rail! While you wait for your train you can buy snacks at a stand and they even have a Dunkin’ Donuts! 🎉 ❤because it’s Massachusetts 😁

This was cool to see, in the future if you travel to other places with subways that would be interesting. If I think about it though (if your looking for a bigger system it would probably be Washington D,C or Chicago.

Nice video. New Yorker here who lived in Boston. The MBTA sucks overall. So many service interruptions they try and try but it can't get right. The issue is they wait till it's broken before fixing it. And even then it takes forever. When the entire Orange Line shut down a few years ago it sucked. the service still has too many slow zones. Even with them fixing the tracks. The new orange and red line trains are nice though. Might be nice if one day at least the red and orange line runs 24 hours. Not everyone works days in the city. But with maintenance and them only having 2 tracks for outbound and inbound I know it would be impossible.

For New York I got two ideas, first idea is going to Riverdale Bronx via the metro north. The promenade there is absolutely beautiful, and the gardens at wave hill are extremely pretty. Walking thru that area is kinda hazardous because of lack of side walks. The second idea is taking ACE to the and NQRW making the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
