This bowl has lots of pretty figure in it. Plus I demo a easy way to handle punky wood and quickly dry your bowl.

Hi! I'm a disabled & retired Art Senior Master from South Australia & I enjoy wandering among the woodturning videos. I enjoyed the no frill commentary on what you are doing as you work plus the fact there is no distracting music playing. Kind regards, Don

That’s a real good tip. I was wondering why there were all those little baggies of fine powder on the wall. Now I know, and I’m smarter because of it, thank you for that. Any day you learn something new, is a good day.

I really like that your videos.They are so easy to follow without the music and the technical stuff. You have done some really neat turnings including the puncky repair. I still want to buy a "Beaver" tool. So impressive. Razor in Georgia

I too started off a few years ago with the Beal 3 wheel system. Like you I found that there was not enough room between the wheels. Instead I now use the mandrel extension from Craft supplies and change the 4" buffing mops one after the other. You can get right in under the rims and do the whole bowl inside and out.

Nice. Larry when I run into punky wood I use Min Wax wood hardener. It does wonders for the wood. It is water thick and soaks in to the punky and is ready in about 2 hours. Try some of that and see what you think..
@TheWoodWhirler6 жыл бұрын
Been there, done that. The minwax sanding sealer penetrates just as well, get just as hard and is a lot cheaper. Thanks, Larry PS, drys a lot faster than the hardener. I've been thru a couples cans of the hardener, over rated.

Larry, I am continuously amazed how you battle Mother Nature and come out with a nice looking bowl. Very good video of never giving up. By the way, you shared with me before what you use for sanding sealer & I forgot to write it down. Could you share one more time & I promise to write it down. Thanks Happy Easter.

Yep, Minwax sanding sealer. Amazon has the best price or you can get it at Low's but it about $5/6 more. Take care, Larry

Just discovered your channel. Nice work, and great commentary WITHOUT the usual music. How about some info on your finishing materials, and the laser, as well as the brand of resin you use? Would be great for us new turners to get hints from you. And I love it that you have an old Grizzly machine. Lots of these guys have the price of a big house tied up in their lathes, mills, and CNC stuff to achieve the level of quality you get with a much more modest arsenal.
@TheWoodWhirler5 жыл бұрын
Several of my videos have that info in them. You should watch more of them at kzbin.info/door/cc2eBYsngKeDW8YqG_zc5A. My finish of choice is generally Minwax sanding sealer and I use a lot of SRC crystal clear epoxy. You can get both on Amazon. Thanks, Larry

James Moore. I can't get you comment to show, don't know why. The answer to your question is "Minwax Sanding Sealer". You can get it at Lowe's or cheaper at Amazon. Thanks, Larry

It's a whole lot cheaper at Amazon. Sorry for the delay. I don't know why I didn't see you comment earlier. Thanks, Larry

Been down for some time now. I had/have one of the worst cases of shingles my doctor said he has seen. All over my left shoulder, neck, arm, chest, and back. I can't wear a shirt, so stuck in my recliner bing watching. I am out in the shop today, but it hurts like hell, I won't be out here long. I hope this crap heals soon, this is really getting old. Thanks for asking. Larry
