Got the chance to talk with Mr gross a few years back about railroads, very knowledgeable and doesn’t let the fact that he was an actor factor into the way he talks with people. So many actors do. Awesome setup here

I kept looking at Mr. Gross and thinking, " I have seen him on T.V. & movies ". Sure enough it was Michael Gross!

So everyone is just going to ignore the fact that Michael Gross aka Steven Keaton from the 1980's sitcom Family Ties and Burt Gummer from Tremors, is a railroad modeler?! I knew EXACTLY who he was as soon as I saw him!! Incredible!

Great video Bart! I have to confess, I don't watch a lot of "train show" videos, as I'm sick of trains running either poorly, or at "slot car" speeds! This video was a breath of fresh air , with trains running at realistic speeds...so a big thank you to all the operators for that! Also your interviews with the modellers was terrific , as was the set up sequence. Thanks for taking the time to show people , how "professional" model railroading can ( and in my view) should be:-). Cheers Gregg.

Exactly! At our train club (SAMRA) we have a beautiful and well maintained layout and we remind newer member that it’s not a racetrack and thankfully, they don’t have to be policed about this concern. But we’ve all seen some people who just love to hi ball their locos, lol.

Up until I watched this video, I had no idea in what Free-Mo was or, therefore, how it worked. I grew up in a house that sat 30 feet from a railroad track and had the pleasure to watch the daily trains run back and forth to the area Iron Ore mining operations. I had made up my mind when I was 7 that someday, I was going to be an engineer for the Delaware and Hudson Railroad. But as I got older, the Fire Department grabbed my interest and to this day I am still a die-hard firefighter. I NEVER did lose my interest in model rail roading though and still watch trains whenever I see them. I'm too old now to start growing a layout, but I watch a lot of You-tube for train related content. So keep it up, folks! Who knows what the future will bring! (Keith Berg)

Was this not a public event? I'm local, and never heard about this..
@bh1701 Жыл бұрын
I attended the 2022 and 2023 Red River Events. Both were "private" events. I think some of the main reasons are that the modules and people's tools are readily accessible and there would be a concern with theft of valuable items (tools, trains) and potential damage to trains and modules from little (or big) hands touching them. Plus, there are lots of wires on the floors under and around the modules which would be potential trip hazards.

Nobody noticed that was the dad from Family Matter!?!?!?
@bh1701 Жыл бұрын
He was actually the Dad on the NBC comedy Family Ties. At the event, we all knew who he was, but he was there to be a model railroader so we pretty much kept our conversations with him focused on that. He is a very nice person and very down to earth.
