Lesson ID: A0135
“Red River Valley” is a traditional folk song and cowboy music standard that was written sometime during the 1800s. The exact song origins are unknown, but many believe it was composed at the time of the 1870 Wolseley Expedition to Manitoba’s northern Red River Valley. This song has been recorded by several artists over the years, including Woody Guthrie, Gene Autry, Roy Acuff, Jimmie Rodgers, and many others.
In this guitar lesson, you’ll learn a nice instrumental for “Red River Valley” that we’ll play with “Carter Style” boom chick country strumming. For the fast learners, I’ll play through the entire instrumental at a slow pace along with the tablature. Then I’ll break down each measure in detail and give you some pointers for working on your country rhythm. Download the tablature and Guitar Pro tab file below the video!

Lei è una persona bravissima, a suonare la chitarra folk ed anche ad insegnare gli accordi. Perché ha delle dita meravigliose quando toccano le corde. Ha un suono melodico e armonioso perché proviene dal cuore e dall'anima. Grazie ciao

hey if you don't mind me asking what strings would you recommend
@countryguitaronline
@countryguitaronline 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Rodney! I'd recommend Elixer Nanoweb phosphor bronze mediums...or the lights are nice also if you like a little lighter string gauge. Make sure you get the phosphor bronze and not the bronze..I like the warmer tone of the phosphor bronze. Let me know how you like them.

thanks and with a higher gauge is for harder strumming?
@countryguitaronline
@countryguitaronline 6 жыл бұрын
+Rodney Campbell yeah I like it for when I'm picking the strings a bit harder playing Fills and bluegrass licks...also will get a little more tone out of mediums and it won't sound quite as thin..but nothing wrong with lights at all. I played with lights until about five years ago or so

Hi Devin, may I ask what strings you use? Lights I assume, but what brand and kind?

Hey Luc - I've tried a bunch of different strings over the years and finally settled on Elixer Nanoweb phosphor bronze mediums...the lights are really nice also but I've been liking the mediums lately. If you try them out, make sure you get the phosphor bronze and not the bronze..I think the phosphor bronze has a bit warmer tone.
