Thanks for the info on the Sand Dunes Frozen in Time, it's hard to believe that whole area was under water at one time but after the water receded the sandstone was formed by the shifting sand blown around by the wind.

That breakfast burrito looked yummy. When you went thru that area where you couldn't find parking one of the big rocks you showed out the window looked almost like a face. Also liked when you showed up inside of that rock that had a hole in it. Scott scared me when he got so close to the edge. I was like oh please don't fall. This is the kind of video I find interesting because you are showing such interesting places. I had to laugh when the guys were teasing about snakes and scorpions. Yep you would hear me too and I would be gone. Same with spiders. Thanks for the video and the camera work is definitely getting better with two person prespective. 👍

My ole stomping grounds back in the 60's and 70's when I lived there as a kid and young man. All of that Rec set up and parking was not there. Just a dirt road that lead up to the mtns. Went cave and old silver mine exploring and free base mtn climbing there. Also partied there when in high school. Some of that trail you are walking on actually was an old dirt road I drove on back in the day. Sad thing about that area is that in the mid to late 70's when more people began to find out where the old mines and caves were, they didn't respect it and vandalized many until the state had them sealed.I wonder if they still are. Anyway, One time I went up there after I came home from the Army and camped out for some solitude. I drove my truck, a nearly new 1976 Ford Courier, remember those?, on that narly dirt road that takes you over the mtn to Pahrump and got stuck. To get help, I walked back during the night over the desert where you drive that scenic route until I got back to the main road of Charleston Blvd. which is St Rt. 159 on the north side. The south side is known as Blue Diamond Rd. It took about 5 hours. Back then there were packs of wild dogs that roamed the area so I had to be mindful of this. I actually flagged down a person who was driving home in the wee hours of the morning coming from a mine that the minerals used is for making drywall. That mine is still there and can be seen from the paved road that you took leaving Pahrump. You may have seen it when you turned on 159. It was like about 4 to 5 am and they gave me a lift back to the west side of Vegas where there was a 7/11 store. That store was the last building on that road heading to Red Rock at the time. To give you and idea of how Vegas has spread out, the last road off of Charleston on the way to Red Rock, with hardly a house on it was called Rainbow. I called my best friend from the phone booth, woke him up and he came and got me in his 1968 VW Bug and we went out and got my truck unstuck. I left Vegas in Dec. 1981. I went back a couple of years ago to see my sister who lives in Pahrump. I couldn't believe how the whole valley has changed and the tourist trap of Vegas has lead out to Red Rock. I wish to thank you for some fine memories of yester year for me. If you haven't done so, consider taking a drive up to Mt. Charleston. It is north of Vegas on RT. 95. on the way to Reno. There should still be snow there considering it is over 11,000 ft. I got good memories of that place as well. Oh by the way. All those houses you see going back into town is where people used to go to do target shooting.....progress...sometimes it gets in the way of ole times....

Beautiful! When I saw "Red Rock Canyon" in the description, I was excited that someone else had visited the amazing little gem. But then I realized you were at the National Conservation Area in Nevada, which is completely different that Red Rock Canyon State Park in California (AMAZINGLY Beautiful). Now it looks like Kevin and I need to add a second Red Rock Canyon onto our bucket list.
