"Red Rocket Rising" Dalek Variant quick animation test

@Sp8d8 Just thought about how I'd design a Dalek. Something that was obviously 'A Dalek' but just designed by someone other than Davros, and yet still based on the fundamental idea - much as the Red Rocket Rising Daleks are. Oddly, it's not as easy as it sounds. You can do a robot with bumps and arms, but there's a fine line between that and 'A Dalek'.

@Sp8d8 I'm working on animating a few minutes of 'Blood Of The Daleks'. Still learning Cinema4D so it's three steps forward and four back at the moment :) Got my Dalek (RRR variant and 'normal') props built, and now working on a set that doesn't take an age to render.

Hey I don't know if you still use this channel and all but I wanted to leave a comment with maybe the hopes of you seeing it. When I was a lot younger this video and the blood of the daleks animation you made left a strong impression on me. I kind of bring this up since awhile ago I made my own take of the audio as well, and I liked to think about these old videos and especially the impace it had while I was making mine. I always really liked this take, even if I don't think this would of been the actual design in the audio or how this goes against a lot of dalek design. I still like it, and thanks for leaving that impact on me.

Hi! I'm honoured that you feel that way. Just had a look at some of yours and it makes me wish that I just had the time these days to dedicate to CG. I always loved tinkering with the design, and the challenge of giving some emotive moment reminiscent of the original era operators. Keep the excellent work.

@Sp8d8 Very cool! I know the Daleks are fixated on genetic purity but I wish we could get a Dalek like that in the main series! (Even if it would just be mediocre CGI it would still be a good idea...)

Can i just say, i've been trying to envision my own concept for the RRR Daleks, but every time i try, i come back to this. This just perfectly grasps the concept of the daleks: Reimagined. In fact, for a long time i've wanted to animate Blood of the Daleks in some form. I don't suppose you'd be kind enough to let me use your design? I'd give you full credit, and it would be so good to see how good these guys look as 5" Figures. :D

@Bargie57 Yeah I get what you mean. I still get the feel of 'Dalek' looking at it (I think its the arms moving like the mutant's tentacles). Are you gonna be doing anything with the model?

Interesting. How exactly did you come up with this idea? Its very interesting but very different from what I imagined...which isn't to say its worse and I hate it. Its just so different lol.

Just because I wanted something different. The Big Finish story, 'Blood Of The Daleks', is about someone who creates their own version, so I thought about what I would do if I had the blueprints and how I'd do things different. A bit like getting a 3D file and tweaking it to how you want it before printing. I did think about putting legs on it (a bit like the legendary Spider Dalek) but my 2010 animation skills hadn't quite progressed that far!

Bargie57 Hm. Personally I imagined the Martez Daleks as like the regular white and blue Daleks, only orange instead of blue.

Or a dusty red for the name of colony? I'm really hoping to get back to doing these again this year, so been looking at the notes I made for this one. One of the ideas I had was 'I want to make my own, but I don't have access to the equipment to make them glide, so I'll go for tracks or omni-direction-forklift wheels' but couldn't make the model work at the time. You wouldn't believe some of the flack I've had via PM over the years for daring to change colours or designs as I feel for my vids. I got so many private complains on my ''Sato Michiaki Dalek design" from people that clearly hadn't read the description I was sorely tempted to take it down.

Bargie57 Dusty Red? I suppose but that'd make it look too similar to the Time Strategists from Monster of Marmartar(or however it's spelled).
