This is such a great exercise. Every time I think I have it, I play along and notice something new. Took me a while to figure out you were hitting the B string in the A part, now I just noticed the drop thumb in the break of the final version in the B part 2:12. So many great techniques packed into a seemingly easy tune! Thank you for taking the time to do this!

Watching versions of tunes played slower than usual tempo really helps when you usually use Tab to start learning a tune. Thanks!

Well done. And, I hope you found a way to support the artist who took time to make and share this video with us. I bought the book, because she has some great songs in it, and because I believe that we should celebrate and appreciate our artists. They’re rare and special.

Did you work it out, friend? It’s a repeated hammer on the 4th string: hold and play 4th fret, hammer onto 5.. and then thumb on 5th string ! Repeat! hope that helps. ⭐️

I've seen clawhammer players who player higher up the neck (closer to the head/kind of over the head but not as far as where bluegrass pickers play). How do you decide where to play, do you just choose whichever is more comfortable?

There are a lot of different versions of this song. This is kind of the standard jam version in New York. It is absolutely very different from Dock Boggs' version and many others. But that is the beauty of finding different ways to play the same tune.
