For those wondering, you don’t need the baffle for the G2 models
@fishpalace2 ай бұрын
That is good to know and a simple but effective improvement 👏🏻

Huge thing I did to this tank was… don’t need the skimmer, just high quality filter socks and filter floss, lots of carbon, 2 chamber sponges, one for the left chamber of the outlet pump and one cut out one on top of the pump itself. This is a mixed reef, fully dominated. That’s all you need. That horrendous skimmer noise, and that size tank doesn’t need one told me a professional. Once I’ve done all that my tank boomed 2 years ago.
@fishpalace Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for your response. Totally agree that skimmer can be removed and use additional filtration to replace it. Do you also do regular water changes?

Thanks Paul. Easier to make videos when a tank is really good quality. They have certainly upped their game from gen 1 to gen 2 although I still have a gen 1 that I bought in 2016

Nice thanks Is the Skimmer loud ?
@fishpalace9 ай бұрын
It is loud when first used and once it beds in it is quieter but not silent. I have run big skimmers in a sumped tank that are quieter. Not an issue for me as tank is not in our living area but if it was I would probably stop using it

What about a heater or a chiller, how do you control your temps ?
@fishpalace11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment 👌🏻I use a DD temp controller on all 3 tanks. More recently I bought a Red Sea 3:1 ATO to monitor temp which is great if I am away. 💪🙌🏻🔥
@charlieriggs4494 Жыл бұрын
can you do a video on how you installed the ato as im going to get one and it locks far down the back how do you see where the probs are to make sure you level at the water line im getting the max nano
@fishpalace Жыл бұрын
I have uploaded a video of the Red Sea ATU 3:1. The way I installed it was to first position it lower than I wanted it, switch it on and then slowly raise it until it reached the level I wanted. The water level is between 1/2 1 cm below the chamber before so that it just flows over the baffle without making any noise. It could be slightly higher or lower and make no difference Is probably easier than it sounds 👌🏻

How did manage to correctly place the Red Sea ATO sensor in place in the rear sump?
@fishpalace Жыл бұрын
I wanted the water to be about 1/2 to 1 cm below the previous chamber and tinkered with the sensor until it was at the right level. I started with it lower than I wanted and then gradually moved it up until I was happy. Did not take long Hope that makes sense and helps

would you recommend this for a new reefer? is it worth the price?
@fishpalace9 ай бұрын
That is a tough one to answer as depends on what you want to get from this hobby. Your reefing experience will depend on how much you research and how much you are prepared to take it slow and be patient, regardless of the tank. It is a great tank which provides most of what you need and maintenance is fairly quick so you won’t have to spend ages doing it. The downside is if you get hooked you will probably be looking to upgrade within 18 months so you will end up spending more. IMO it is value for money as you get a lot but remember you will probably spend as much on livestock as you do the tank. It sure if this helps 🤷♂️
@legionaquatics9 ай бұрын
@@fishpalace after doing a bit more research I think I’ll go with a small budget setup and if I’m really enjoying the saltwater side of the hobby I can always upgrade and I can spend a bit more on that setup.
@fishpalace9 ай бұрын
Makes sense. You could consider a 2nd hand tank as there are loads around at decent prices. Just need to pay attention to seams and how it has been maintained. I bought a Red Sea reefer 170 2nd hand 7 years ago and still going strong as a floating aquascape

@@fishpalace good idea! I’ll be on the lookout for one!
@fishpalace9 ай бұрын
I would focus on one that is less than 12 months old and still running. That way you can see it all set up and working. I would not however buy the whole tank including fish, rock and coral etc unless you want to plan how to move everything and then set up in your home. It is very doable but can be a pain

Such a brilliant reef and I do prefer the peninsula version to mine. Why is your water level so low in the sump?
@fishpalace Жыл бұрын
It is a great nano and I love the peninsula look. We need to compare water levels as that is roughly the level when the stock ATU was in the tank. 🤷♂️

Hi. I did remove the sponge in the return pump chamber as I removed the stock ATU
