All the feeder birds sending out their SOS calls to others, with the hawk around. That was a great video/audio of all the calls.

I was wondering what the hawks sounded like, the video had all the other birds making sounds but after reading your comment it made the video outstanding!!! I feed birds and squirrels and despise hawks after one shredded a squirrel on my back porch and I saw it when I rewound the camera after finding all the blood. Broke my heart. 😢

Thanks! Was actually 2 hawks calling to each other. I used some creative editing and stock footage for dramatic effect.

@S J Mobbed? By Scrub Jays and Cardinals? If they'd decided to fly at the hawk they would've surely been killed. Red Shouldered Hawks are more nimble than their Red Tailed Cousins, which gives them an edge when maneuvering with smaller prey. And yes, some Raptors do just make their presence known to cause distress, that's what makes them great for Falconry and Abatement.
@rhythmfield11 ай бұрын
@@FrontYardVideo so these are two separate situations, songbird, calling to each other, and then separately, the Hawks? Definitely effective editing there… but the feeder birds aren’t issuing distress calls in response to the hawk in reality …

There is a hawk that frequents the fence in my backyard and I'm fairly certain it's a Red-shouldered hawk. There was one, most likely the same one, that was chilling in a neighbor's yard when I walked by on my way home. I was maybe 3 feet away from the hawk and it didn't fly away or anything, just watched me walk by. It was a strange experience.

I got one of these right outside my door right now, perched on a fence. Didn't know what kind of hawk it was at first. I live in Texas in very urban area, and we don't see many hawks around here. And when we do, they are usually Red Tail Hawks. But I could tell right away that this wasn't a Red Tail. I looked up Hawks of Texas and identified it as a Red-Shoulder Hawk. Really pretty. Though also a little concerning. I got a really little dog and it makes me nervous when any bird of prey is flying around.

My guess is an oak titmouse and it was the little brown job with the crested crown.
@Grendelmonster8u2 жыл бұрын
@@Madasin_Paine The first bird is the male Cardinal who does that trill followed by it cheep cheep call to its mate, then the Blue Jay and a Tufted Titmouse not an Oak Titmouse which is in the western US. As the Titmouse flies away you can see it’s rusty color near the wing. You hear a Chickadee too and the Carolina Wren, I think, has the most easily recognizable warning call. The Red Shouldered hawk is more into mice and frogs. One won’t shut up all morning at my mom’s house in Florida which has a marshy area and little manmade ponds. If it were a Cooper’s hawk the birds would be hiding and not making so much noise. A Blue Jay alone hides, with a group they make a racket and I’ve seen a Blue Jay chase one even though they are slow fliers. The only hawk I see crows fuss over is the Red-Tailed Hawk; while it would rather have squirrels, rats, frogs, snakes, they will take Ravens, Crows, Pigeons(rock doves), Mourning Doves, Chickens…bigger birds.
