You are watching a 16mm kinescope recording here. My hunch is this show was likely taped in color using RCA color cameras and Ampex recorders with Skelton's "RED-EO Video Enterprises" mobile color equipment outside the old Charlie Chaplin studio that Red purchased (as "Skelton Studios") to tape and deliver to CBS his show in color (choosing his price) besides renting out the color equipment to other enterprises. CBS wanted more control, and bought Skelton Studios in 1961 and planted Skelton back into Television City - mostly televised in black and white as seen on this channel.

Do you have an episode of the Red Skelton Show from 10/27/58 which was filmed on color videotape?

I don't understand your numbering system. What does "611121" mean?

Tapes lost or it was right before red started to use videotape.

Actually these shows were taped, starting in 1958 -- the same year and network that Ed Sullivan switched to videotape. Unfortunately CBS deleted the pre-Red Skelton Hour tapes, so only the kinescope film recordings survive from them.

@@executivedecision6141 IMDb info stated all red Skelton shows before 62 as live, but, the tape could have been used for delay broad casting only .By 62 as far as the tape concern ,like nbc earlier 59 Like Dinah shore chevey show, they shot their variety shows like a movie before broadcasting may be.I remember seeing on my black n white t.v a summer repeat of red Skelton a 58 episode with Nancy Culp ,which was in color back in 60 So CBS might of kept some of their video tapes a while before putting then on black and white film ,so they can recycle video tape for other use due to expense.

@@michaelmcgee8543 The networks should have gone to the extra expense back then, because it would have resulted in consistently higher Neilsen ratings.
