I was actually at the Red Skelton museum a couple of years ago. It was amazing. Also, Vincennes Indiana is the hometown of Alvy Moore, a.k.a. Mr. Kimble of the Green Acres series.

Red Skelton advises Bob Nelson not to curse. Cursing is a poison to the healing power of comedy. The museum had a comedy convention that featured clean comedy. Bob Nelson specializes in rubber-faced comedy characters. He is also known for his "football act" in which he parodies the old team rundowns in the College Football All-Star games in which players announce their names, numbers, and teams. Nelson was Rodney Dangerfield's opening act for eight years and was featured in two of Rodney's HBO stand-up comedy showcases, alongside Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne Barr, Rita Rudner, and Bob Saget.

23:06- Funny to see Miss West hold a handkerchief over her mouth to coyly cover up her spontaneously laughing at Mr. Skelton's joke about letting the censor out of his straight jacket during Miss West's appearance! I would say that that was one of the very rare times she allowed herself to break character in public.

Hello. Would you happen to have either of the following pieces of tape in your library collection involving Red Skelton? One: Red Skelton’s apperance on the Dinah Shore Chevy Show in Color Two: Red Skelton’s B&W Videotapped apperance on the Jack Paar Tonight Show in 1959

Not a great example of classic television, of vintage media Americana. The only worthwhile aspect of it is Miss Bankhead, who, by this time, was, as is painfully visible, living the effects of four decades of round-the-clock drinking, drugging and debauchery. She was only 63 when this was recorded, yet the cardio-pulmonary distress (which eventually killed her in 1968, as she succumbed to a routine bout of pneumonia) was evident in her labored movements and strained and almost breathless delivery here. All of that in consideration, though, she still commands her scenes. She still holds that presence. The problem is her lines, inane and hackneyed. The script is amateur-hour and spectacularly unfunny, for all of Skelton's painful mincing and mugging. His 'oh-so-wholesome' goof-ball shtick is more cringey than comical. To label it 'dated' would be inadequate. "Oh, look. It's Red Skelton wearing a silly hat, making a laboriously overwrought facial grimace. Isn't this FUNNY?" Uh.....NO. If not for Miss Bankhead's appearance, albeit brief, this would have hardly been worth preserving. And, please, do not employ the he-was-a-clown-not-a-comedian-per-se routine. He wasn't funny - That is the bottom line. Television in the '50s and '60s was a graveyard of ex-vaudevillians who had bottomed-out on their attempts at film notoriety and were scooped-up by television. Tedious and time-wasting.

Sorry to break this to you but that is definitely not a relic of the True Cross. Please correct this in your archival records. It is either an Ex Ossibus, Ex Capillis or an Ex Corpore 1st Class Relic of Pope Pius X. It is a piece of Saint Pope Pius X's flesh, hair, skin or bone glued onto the center of the white cloth flower. I have 7 of these in my collection. The C.P. after his name means Confessor Pope.
