Good stuff, I'll be going out of steinhatchee almost every week, would be nice to have a couple boats on fleet in case something happens in that 50 mile trip, I was also thinking of going out of Apalachicola, , 30 miles 140 feet , and there are monster vermillion. This will be my first full season

Right on! It takes about 70+ miles out of the hatch to get in that deep water but hopefully we can get a middle ground trip in this year! Thanks for leaving a comment hope to see you out with some monster Red Snapper!

I was wondering about going out of Steinhatchee myself. I live just south of Homosassa. Is there a good reef or ledge at 50 miles. I think our water is more shallow than yours. I'm not sure? I've never fished for Red Snapper on my own boat.

@@johna7184 To be honest, I'm still not the best at reading the bottom but from what I've gathered there's just a lot of live bottom and rocks that will hold fish in certain areas. We typically go to a spot we know we've caught them in the past, then look for the fish show on our bottom machine.

How deep do you need to be in order to catch Red Snapper out of Steinhatchee? How many miles offshore is that? Thank you, I've only been out on charters and never paid attention.

I've caught them in as shallow as 50' which is around 30 miles out but the real healthy quantities are around 50 miles out in about 90' of water. This deep you also have the ability to catch some monster Mangrove snapper along with many other snapper species.

@@NickeeGee Awesome and thanks for the reply. If I go out 50 miles off Hernando Beach I don't think I would be in 90 ft. I live about two hours South. Navionics says 70ft

@@johna7184 I just did a quick search, looks like you could be in about 70-80 which can also work. Go to a website called Navionics, and look at their online chart. You can look at the bottom contour and find some decent areas to try out and sometimes it'll reveal good live bottom areas.
