Red Sox IL September 15 10 Day: Rich Hill - Prostate As someone who knows what it’s like to be Rich Hill’s age, I can safely say being a few years removed from a good season is not all that encouraging. Things start going down hill fast and I at one point was struggling to remember John Farrell’s name! Unthinkable a few years back. Signing a 44 year old who hasn’t pitched this season smacks of desperation. On a more positive note, Bello’s emergence is very encouraging and so is the line up.

@@redseatradio I mean I really am pretty thrilled about our line up and position players we have in the minors. However I am dying to see a lefty or righty stud pitcher come out of our minor league system and into Boston. Its a thrill I remember well years ago watching Clemens develop . I went to all the playoff games when he was with the New Britain Redsox of the Eastern League. They won the championship that year and I attended every game.

I have to give the front office props for taking action. When they have a weak spot, they make a trade or a signing or a callup to fill it. It doesn't always work, but when it doesn't they take action again. It at least gives the team a chance.
@Versatilty2 ай бұрын
It's kinda what we thought we were in a rough spot and ownership just made small moves to keep us afloat until the real deadline moves (all the IL returns) happen. It's great to get the band back together but how long will it take to get them back to full game speed that's the big question. If we can stay within 3 games of a playoff position by the end of August there's still a chance but it would be better to be much closer than that by then.
@redseatradio2 ай бұрын
Yeah it played out pretty much right to script. What’s interesting about the next couple of weeks is that the royals may have a harder schedule than the Sox do. Hopefully the reinforcements make things really interesting

I’m really going to miss dom smith and idk how I feel about rich hill, he is turning 45 years old soon.
@Bondagefetishstore2 ай бұрын
Rich Hill is a good pickup. He is a fresh arm. He will not be great but he will eat innings. The whole staff is really young and hit a wall. Bello has been doing better. Is it the catcher? Getting Casas and ONeil back is huge.Maybe the can convert Dom Smith to a pitcher. The Red Sox should have Slaten back in about a week and Hendricks in about 2, Also Trevor Story in about a month. He may start rehab soon. To make room they are going to have to move 3 people off the 40 man roster. The first is easy move Paxton to the 50 day disable list, Then unless someone else gets hurt they will need to DFA 2 players. I think Bobby Dalbec goes and either Chase Shugart or Wikelman Gonzalez. Either could stay with the team. I do not think anyone would pick them up because they would have to remain on the 40 man roster.

@redseatradio2 ай бұрын
Idk I think the sample size is too small to declare it but it is interesting
@atgn702 ай бұрын
With all of the garbage on the 40 man presently,why would you put Wikelman Gonzalez out? If you've been watching him over the last 2 months he's been doing well. Hes only given up 5 runs since June 28th and his walk rate has been impriving as well,which has been his main career concern.And he's only 22. His stuff is electric.
@Bondagefetishstore2 ай бұрын
@@atgn70 He will not be up till 2026 at the earliest. Luis Perales will not be ready till 2027 at the earliest. That is 2 spots. Greg Weissert is someone to hold onto. I think he hit a wall. Isaiah Campbell is injured. But, he has shown promise early in the year. They are not going to dump Garcia. Who would you DFA? Unless it is Dalbec, I think they need all the rest of their position players on the 40 man just in case someone gets hurt. I suggest Gonzalez because if someone were to claim him, He would need to be put on their 40 man roster. At this point in time, I do not think another team would want to take a spot on their 40 man which would not see the majors for 2 plus years.

Red Sox winning this series today would be a huge boost before a very difficult scedule @ Houston and then home vs a very good Arizona team. They don't need to split against these teams, they need to win both series. After these 2 series, they catch a break playing the Jays and White Sox. I hate to say it, but they need to sweep both of those series. September is almost upon us and the Red Sox need to go on a run.

What is the problem with Tyler O’Neil’s immune system? Sure we know the guy lifts weights every day, but whatever the problem is he misses alot of games. If I was manager I’d be asking questions about this guy. St. Louis doesn’t get rid of guys unless they go bad. He struck out four times today. Casas is another guy I’m not in love with. He won’t hit .225 for the first three months of the season. Give him an electric blanket and send him to Worcester to start the season. We need to stop drafting players from So. California unless they prove they can hit and field in Boston for March,April and May.

Sometimes your positivity is Draining. The team has performed above expectations all year yet ownership pooped the bed at the trading deadline….again… Cheapos are still grabbing beat up low possibility arms and these moves have been pathetic. Expect the Sox to move back to statistical norm and miss the playoffs AGAIN!! Should we celebrate not coming in last? Ownership Sucks. I want you to be right but know you’re not.
@paulscott69982 ай бұрын
Does anyone notice this Red Sox team is the worst fielding team in baseball? And they were last year too. Pitching and defense wins championships. Red Sox are the worst in one category and definitely not champion level in pitching. Somebody’s head needs to roll if this looks anywhere close next year. Defense is effort. Jrue Holiday effort. These guys aren’t championship level because they don’t really love the game. They aren’t focused. A manager has to motivate his players. It isn’t all x’s and o’s. And this season it’s been even worse in Fenway Park. If this Baltimore series had been in Boston, the team would be 4.5 back of Kansas City.
