Losing the purest of what's in my heart" Is it just me or does the first half sound like Ash's point of view and the second half sounds like Eiji's point of view

[SPOIERS AHEAD] to me it seems still Ash's point of view: He has lost all of his friends and loved ones (the little boy, his brother, his father's wife/gf, Shorter, and in the end Eiji was shot and Ash thought he was gonna die) [>"The stain of red that covers the pavement. Painted with blood of somebody you love": all of them died in pools of blood and ended up on the floor]. And Ash has lost (or, almost lost for Eiji) all of them because the villains were either trying to capture him/Banana Fish (little boy, brother, father's wife/gf) or because they were trying to break him (Shorter, Eiji) (without considering all of the ostages that have been taken for one or both of those purposes) [>"Is this the sacrifice for the broken? Losing the purest of what's in my heart": he got more and more broken each time, and all of the deaths led to Ash having to kill more and more people, hence losing the pure of what's in his heart].
