Underwater really IS an experience. But I agree, the maturity they have as a group and their actual grown woman status as well as the delivery... yeah it feels like a concept delivered by the right group of people. TBH I never look at lyrics until after several watches of album reactions because I just don't hahaha so I have no opinions to give about the meaning of these bsides. But yeah people always keep saying these things about Red Velvet because they've just had a long career and SM doesn't treat them as a priority, it seems. It would be understandable to most ReVeluv if they wanted to leave the company rather than renew - I personally do not see this possibly being an end to Red Velvet with this album. I think we will at the minimum see an album/tour??? at their 10 year anniversary which is this next August. Even if emphasis shifts in some of their careers to some solo or other activities, but I can't see Red Velvet ending any time soon. I think they're too good together and love being together too much.

Red Velvet are legends in Korea, where Kpop is actually relevant. And to be honest, I think the girls are just fine with that. In their nearly 10 years, they haven't had an official English release or North American distribution. I really don't think promoting overseas is a big priority for them at this point. Besides, RV is WAY too eclectic and experimental for Western audiences. And I really don't see them suddenly abandoning their musical identity just to appeal to drooling Billie Eilish and Doja Cat fans.

@thezircadia I were referring to your statement that SM wasn't treating them as a priority. People always seem to equate that with Western promotion. I see that particular complaint all the time... "SM doesn't give Red Velvet U.S. distribution!" "Red Velvet have never put out an official English single!" I personally think that the members of Red Velvet are just fine with that.

Literally I mean they don't, that could include Western promotion (I selfishly want more access to them in the US) but that's not really what I'm talking about. I'm talking about things like their tour not being given proper venues (not talking bout only the Europe tour here, but Asian tour dates as well) with confirmed dates in time for people to buy tickets and plan to be there, or how they for some reason have no dance practice or some of the other usual content for this comeback even though it's a full album. The way that Joy said there was no room for them on any variety programs because everything was already full, and she had to take it on herself to get time for them on Animal Farm. Or how they posted low quality versions of their promotional images during this album promotion cycle (or those with typos etc), and so on and so on. I know for a fact that Red Velvet members are not fine with a lot of these things because they've expressed as much. Do you think that SM considers Red Velvet a priority? They are left out of things frequently in contrast with other active SM artists.

I hope DG never forgets Red Velvet in context of the Kpop in the western movement. DG has all the factors of success in a globalized world. Don't forget SM aspirations of American Motown.
