@@firelinksunlight9692 I discussed it with another user in the comment section, but this song based on the lyrics is most likely about school shooters and the aftermath of what happens after a school shooting. It took me reading the comment I first replied to to understand it but a good indicator is the mention of classrooms directly in the song as well as “the advertising’s free and since the found you, crowned you, said your name aloud, profound fools will want the same thing now” is about how news station often fail to report with any tact and will sensationalize the tragedy which just gives the shooters what they wanted in the first place.

(Lyrics from Bandcamp) Really no time, living on borrowed time Not until they see what you've been through Never looked back, never went back Such a waste of life, but who allowed you, unwound you, threw you to the ground That now you'd choose to put them down (They’ll know who you are) Never got time, never was given time (Why’d you go so far) This is what becomes of those who break (They’ll know who you are) Never know why, never know peace of mind (Why’d you go so far) Traces of the ones you left around you, rounds used, lives you’ve run aground The classroom, those who should be out of bounds Confused, deep wounds, can they heal somehow Our minds are broken and beat down (They’ll know who you are) Nothing set right, everyone choose a side (Why’d you go so far) The advertising's free, and since they found you, crowned you, said your name aloud Profound fools will want the same thing now (Lives you’ve run aground) (Should be out of bounds) (Can they heal somehow) (Lives you’ve run aground)

Okay, I didn’t think the lyrics were that heavy until I went back to listen after reading your comment and they sound scarily similar to someone talking about a school shooter, is that what you got from it too ? Especially the line “they crowned you, said your name aloud” like how the news gives publicity to them when that’s what they wanted in the first place and that’s why people keep doing it , or “want the same thing now “ as well as the lines referencing classrooms.

I figured it out today. Took me 10 months after release to finally realize what this song is about. Like everyone is else has said, this is probably the darkest Red Vox song. Really unexpected topic to hear about but it's a real grim one that we hear about frequently sadly. Aside from that, it's still one of my favorites of the album. Incredible atmosphere in this.

I come back to this song a lot, and sometimes I intentionally avoid reading lyrics just so my mind can hear what it wants to hear. But I'm glad I read the lyrics eventually. Its really impressive that a song manages to sound both haunting and pretty at the same time. Its sad, but I also love it a lot. It might be my favorite on the album, at least for now.

this is probably the first song to make me feel guilty for enjoying it. It was stuck in my head all day at work, bits and pieces of the lyrics and instruments bleeding through the empty space, but knowing what it was just made it feel all the more sinister that it kept coming back to me. It's a hell of a song, but fuck, it's a hell of a song y'know?

Fuck.. as a kid that was in two school shooting situations first happened when I was in elementary school the other threat in high school might be the antidepressants making me detached but seeing the massive spike in the shootings during the time I was in the second lockdown and the fact we had kids playing “pumped up kicks” during the whole thing did not help.
@YokaiDisorder
@YokaiDisorder Жыл бұрын
This song fits way better. School shootings are a serious thing, and pumped up kicks isn't the song that should be the poster child of it. This song exposes the media for what they've done, and shows how things will only get worse. This song perfectly expresses the emotions school shootings should provoke.

really wonder if this was based on how dark this reality has become, how there's only negative stuff on the news, how the state of the world decays over days, weeks, so soon, especially since the TVs are surrounded by rubble and trash, and the lyrics talk about trauma and tragedy unable to heal within a reasonable amount of time?
@frankmendez8599
@frankmendez8599 Жыл бұрын
Vinny has actually talked a lot about how his family members live in a constant state of fear and negativity due to the news cycle of pure despair. The song deals with that but in a way it also makes a connection with the constant mass shootings in the US.
@frankmendez8599
@frankmendez8599 Жыл бұрын
However it's more about the media pushing despair, while yes the world is dark and there is certainly horrible things happening, we cannot ignore that good happens at the same time, it's just the media pointing the camera at what brings more eyes, more ratings and all that shit. Goated song 10/10.
