Ive always been very surprised no major manufacturers ever did this kit. Great box opening, thanks for sharing. I can better see why the price point of the kit. Kind of a high detail curbside. Curbside is a bit hard to swallow at the price though too. Look forward to seeing others build these up.
@scottsinaz300019 күн бұрын
And for that price I would like to see chrome plating.
@BGsModelWorkshop19 күн бұрын
Hi Adam! I agree! I recall the Franklin Mint selling VERY expensive display pieces back in the day. But that was basically it. So I was stoked to see this on the horizon. Definitely took some financial planning for this one! 😁 True, chrome plating would be a nice addition.

The problem with trying to do this as a traditional model kit is that there's no return on the investment. With only 50ish of them ever being built, there's no "next release" that would exist, so it would be a one and done type of tooling. Chances are it would have to be a simplified curbside kit, because a full detail one-off type of kit would have a MSRP pushing towards $80. Granted that's perhaps a more palatable price than this resin multimedia affair, but would be an absolute clunker in terms of retail sales.
@BGsModelWorkshop19 күн бұрын
@@scottsinaz3000 I was checking that one out back in April. It's an interesting car since it was a daily driver and has a lot of wear and tear. Probably the only one in that kind of condition. Others are all pristine.

Had to click on this the moment i saw it. Glad to see someone has finally come out with a kit of this unique and radically different car for its time. Makes me wonder - if Revell or AMT had brought out a model of the Tucker when the movie came out in 1988, it might have sold very well.

This is a beautiful, well researched, well-engineered model of a (very!) long-desired subject, to be sure. Red Wheels is to be commended for bringing this out. No doubt about it. But this kit is too rich for my blood. And though I've been building models for over half a century, this is way too complicated for my accumulated skill level. Hopefully the success of this model kit will serve to 'kickstart' someone else (MiniArt, Roden, or better still, AMT,) to come out with a simpler, more conventional, injection-molded styrene kit (with a full engine, opening hood and 'frunk,') for less than half the price of this one. I've waited this long for a '48 Tucker. I think I can wait a little bit longer. Thanks for sharing this in-box review with us!

Thanks for the review! You will have noticed many points that we paid a lot of attention to during development. As for the templates for glass. The Tucker 48 is missing the black trim. These templates are designed to help you cut out the glass by hand if the main milled glass gets damaged or scratched.

An absolutely stunning kit! Why no one has thought to produce this until now is beyond me. How about a '34 Chrysler Airflow...or a '37 Lincoln Zephyr? An auto museum near me (Stahls) has a restored Tucker that they DRIVE to concours events....Mr. Stahl believes all of his cars should be driven, and they are all registered and insured!!

So what are you thinking? Custom? Lowrider? Demolition Derby Car ? 😆 LOL. That body looks perfect - very high quality. I wonder if choosing the color will be the hardest part. Did Tucker own one of those as his own? I wonder what color his personal car was? I don't think you will need any putty on this build.

Hi Bruce, thank you for watching. If I recall correctly Tucker didn't own one, all 50 cars were sold to help cover legal fees I believe. I do know the blue color was a favorite bod Mrs Tucker. And of course the maroon one was the feature car in the movie. I agree, it doesn't look or feel like I will need any spot fixes on the body! Andy yeah, the color WILL be the hardest part!! 😁

My interest in Tuckers pre-dates the movie. Would love to build a model of it, in Waltz Blue. tbh, I'm kinda disappointed that the hood doesn't open, and that there is no motor, especially for this price point. I would like to support a start-up model kit maker, but this price is far beyond affordable on my retirement income.
@BGsModelWorkshop18 күн бұрын
Howdy, I get it. A lot of types of models are going to be a bit extra in price. Like Alfa Models. They also charge a premium for their curb side kits. I never envisioned buying one of those, but once I found out about this one, I shifted some funds to make it work. Both my father and grandfather were big fans of the car so I hope to build it in their honor.
