I said from the beginning when Lalonde was commenting on the team this year that they had a long way to go and a lot to improve. I totally disagreed with him and thought he should have been replaced immediately, but then the Wings were performing phenomenally, especially with Lyon in goal and I figured maybe Lalonde is changing his tune and is trying to get this team to believe in itself. But now, we're back to the beginning with this guy making excuses and probably not challenging his players to do their part in the ice, especially after coming this far and this close to clinching a playoff spot. If Stevie Y has gotten close to giving these players ultimatums, my hope is that he gave Lalonde an ultimatum it act like a professional NHL coach and do what it takes to show his players either positive reinforcement for food play on the ice or sit on the bench, have minutes taken from you, or worse yet, go home and watch the game from there----- take your pick... Scotty Bowman would not have tolerated this bullshoot going forward. Thing is, Lalonde is likely in over his head, doesn't have the leadership skills to head coaching a pro hockey team, let alone an original 6 team like the Wings, who have have the most Stanley Cups among American city hockey teams. Stevie Y needs to lock his wounds for coming so close, yet likely losing a chance at the playoffs again this season. A team that has its captain go down (Larkin) shouldn't be a reason to go on a 7+ game skid. Many on this hockey club are multimillionaire paid veterans who should be stepping up at the prowess they know best, yet they haven't b/c they're either jinxed (maybe with that ridiculous PRIORITY sponsor nonsense all over the ice rink, let alone on their jerseys), or they've just all run out of gas and are over the hill. I'm praying for Stevie Y to go deep and bring up several of his draft picks, including Kasper, Lombardi, Edvinnson, Cossa, Augustine, Danielson, Pelikka, and others, possibly. Why in the hell not? Stevie Y's multimillionaire $ acquisitions are playing like they would lose also in the AHL. It's that embarrassing. With the exception of players like Kane, Raymond, and Debrincat, and Larkin (when he isn't getting hurt every 6 weeks or so on a multimillion $ contract), I say they bench at least a few of the veteran million $ acquisitions and let's see how the top draft pick rookies perform. Why the hell not? This 7+ game skid has all the ingredients of blowing a chance at the playoffs where the Wings club and its fans are praying for the lesser point teams to lose. Unbelievable. You can't rely on that and still play like horse hockey, if you know what mean. You gotta have grit and heart to play in the pros if you wanna win, and you could tell these guys have either been jinxed, or they just want to ride out their multi-million $ contracts. I fact, the ones who are playing at a minus clip are taking down the others (like Kane, Raymond, Debrincat) from likely performing at a much sharper clip. And again, with this head coach (Lalonde) who probably has lost respect, once again, from his players kind of gives us all a clear picture. A head coach, just likea baseball manager, i.e. like a Billy Martin, needs to cheerlead his players and hold them accountable. There's a reason head coaches, Scotty Bowman, and MLB skippers,. like Billy Martin, we're the type of leaders of their time. They were winners. They didn't expect less from their players. Don't think Lalonde will take this team far at all, even in the future with the Wings and their top draft picks. He (Lalonde) either needs to mirror what winning coaches do or just go into another line of work. You can't be a winning coach if you allow your players to get hot and then super cold all of a sudden. He seems smart but maybe he's just not convincing enough as a leader. Stevie Y, I hope, will set these players and the coaching staff straight. I am just praying, regardless of the skid, that the Wings bring up their star draft picks and play them, at least sporadically until the end of the season.

Should be fired tonight! It’s like we forgot how to play hockey. One of the goals Arizona scored tonight we had 4 red wings behind our Red Line. Like in what world did these guys who have played hockey their whole lives forget how to play. It’s almost like a curse, a priority curse. But we have one of the worst owner in sports and he cares more about that 4 million he made off the patch then how the fan base feels. And if you ever think that cheapskate will spend anything above bottom 10 payroll on the Tigers your on crack. Mike Illitch is rolling in his grave, way to ruin your family name Chris.

This is beyond a coaching issue. The makeup of this team is awful. Over the hill players with too much term, expects to play big minutes and come up clutch. The GR kids need to be on this team next year and I don’t care if it’s a playoff miss again. Culture shift needs to happen

Imagine if some pucks just went in. If this team knew how to generate any overwhelming offensive pressure, it would take so much fight out of these teams. The defensive zone play wouldn't be nearly as hard if the team had some flow and rhythm instead of this desperate, choppy, broken down mess of guys who can't make a single impressive play when they're looking at the net.
