Mates have them both, ridden them both quite a bit. Each have strong points as you said in the video - pretty much nailed it mate. The Yamaha is smaller, less power, but better off road. Limited tech which will appeal to the off roader crowd. The Ducati is faster, more powerful and loaded with tech and expensive extras such as side tanks - bars and loads of things you can buy in the configurator which can take it to well over £18,000 close to fully spec'd out. I would say the Ducati is a better bike for 50/50 road/off road, the Tenere is better if you want to spend a bit more time off road than on road. Both great bikes for the money IMO. good looking too !

I don't have any experience offroad/adventure except with T7, I think I rode some 12 tours by 400+km each, also 2 days - 700+km - I took the bike from my buddies - I have not got my own yet,... but what can I say, I had no single issue with the bike yet. I can tell that I jumped on a front wheel one time, because of abs on... and crashed with my helmet to the windshield - the plastic parts supporting the windshield broke, those were fragile, with about 0.5sq cm cross-section each, just I think it was a good thing, because more rigid stellar could lead to a serious, maybe a life-threatening injury. Replacement of parts cost only 140$ so I am happy that I was healthy and ready to move on with the windshield strapped at the back, and I could continue my journey as planned.

I rode both bikes and I'm a very experienced road / offroad rider and I ended up buying the Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid, because offroad the Yamaha is way way better. However, the Ducati has it all over the Tenere if you want more power and onroad capability.... especially with the tech it comes with. Honestly, it comes down to this: If you are going to ride it 70% off-road and 30% on-road, go the Yamaha. If you want to go 70% on-road and 30% off-road, go the Ducati. Just something to consider; if you ware like me travelling around the Australian Outback... the tech in the Ducati is a relative disadvantage... you want something simple and easy to fix yourself, something that works every time *Yamaha*

No cruise control. A 2022 bike without cruise isn't going on many world raids.

Yes it has substantially less tech than the Ducati. Although I think bearing in mind what this bike was primarily designed for I personally wouldn't miss cruise control. Would be nice for long motorway trips though.
@Xerdoz2 жыл бұрын
@@redangrevival Of course you can ride without cruise control but it's just so nice to rest your wrist and fingers. Atleast my fingers start to cramp after riding for an hour or so on a motorway, especially if it's a bit colder. I guess you can use those throttle locks etc.

The World Raid really needed tubeless wheels and a little more horsepower from the factory. Sure you can bend a rim, but not as likely as a puncture.
@redangrevival2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, however to have tubeless tyres on a spoked wheel would bump the overall price up. I guess Yamaha are trying to build the bike at a cost. Also there is always the option of changing a tube.

its not really comparable with the Ducati - I think the aprilla 660 more - the Ducati has the power for on road much more and with the option of the rear tank it takes it to a whole other level - the Yamaha is good but if I'm going to focus on off road only I think the KTM 500 will smoke the T7 everywhere as it only weighs 238 pounds!

Adam Riemann …Horsepower is not King. Watch this video, obvious to the experienced off road rider but interesting never the less. Electronics and marshland followed by dust and rocks are not a good match. Riding a bike along a farm track is not riding “off road” in real terms, nor is it an adventure. Many of these so called adventure bikes should be re classified to “All terrain touring bikes.” An adventure to many is a trip to visit the mother in law when you’ve been caught out cheating!!!

Not better at everything at all, it just has more of it. More is not always better!! I prefer the simplicity/friendlier power train, less tech to worry about, more of a raw riding experience. I found the Ducati to be a bit "viby" I prefer the CP2 engine.
@sspirito2 жыл бұрын
@@redangrevival This is exactly what I fail to understand in many reviews. You can tame the Ducati by using different riding modes, but you can't increase the power on the T7 when you want it. You can turn all electronics aids off on the Ducati, but you can't turn them on on the T7. I appreciate the simplicity offroad (I ride a carburated dinosaur, aka DRZ400), but in this case, both bikes shares similar dimensions, weights and in some markets, similar price. I would love to test ride them back to back, but in my opinion the Ducati plays in a different league

Fair enough, I suppose it is just personal preference really. Taking the price into consideration I would have the Yamaha. There is just something about the Ducati that does not gel with me.
