Triumph Tiger 900 Ride and Review, I like it but?

I test ride the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro. This is a quick review of this adventure style motorcycle, with its brand new triple engine and revised looks. Is it worthy of the Triumph Tiger name? After the ride and review, I like it but something is missing!!
It is my first ride ever of a Triumph Tiger and I am not let down by the 900 engine.

Nice. I am in the process of buying the 1999 900 model, same engine as the Thunderbird Sport I had a few years ago. My last bike was the HD MT350. Back to Triumph. Used to have the America too. Happy Riding.

Great review! I think you nailed the comparison between the Tiger 900 GT Pro and Speedmaster. I decided to trade my 2018 Speedmaster for the Tiger because of the limited off-rode capabilities. I also like the higher ride position and tech. At the same time, I do miss the thrum and low down torque of the 1200 parallel twin. I would have both if money wasn’t an issue!

Thanks very much I appreciate it 👍 Fair enough, I understand. They are both very different motorbikes but each have their own appeal. I really enjoyed the Tiger 900, such a brilliant motorbike. I also would have both if money where no object! I would find it so hard to sell the Speedmaster atm, but I'm sure I will one day 🥴. Cheers and hope you continue to enjoy the Tiger.

I'm with you, motorcycling is all about the involvement. How they make you feel. How they tug at the heart strings. For me adventure bikes are the Toyota Corollas of the bike world.

Yup definitely all about how they make you feel. I am not completely against them, just definitely not as characterful and involving as the more “raw” bikes. Sticking with the Speedy 👍

It’s a great travel bike 👍I did the NC 500 on it last year , it was like been a magic carpet ! Sport mode is the only mode to use 👍

I have a 2018 Speedmaster and I am swapping my Tiger 800 XRX for a Tiger 900 GT Pro tomorrow morning.... so know where you are coming from, with the stark difference between the Speedie and the Tiger. They are great complementary bikes, ie the Speedmaster is gorgeous looking, with plenty of cruising cool and power when you need it. The Tiger is a superb do -it-all bike, with loads of comfort, touring capability and plenty fast enough for a very average rider like me to have lots of fun on. Can't wait to get to know the 900, also read loads about it and hope it will be a long-term keeper - as I have loved my 800 and did two back-to-back Scotland trips last summer.

Lucky you that is such a brilliant combination 👍 I was sooo impressed with the 900 Tiger, cannot wait to try out the new 1200. As you say such a great all rounder and an extremely capable motorbike. Swapped my 800 xrx for a 900 10 months ago after 5 years of ownership. Loved the 800 used it all year round and bought the 900 on the strength of it. Couldn't be happier, as the 900 is lighter to move around and far easier to put on the main stand. Everything else is just an evolution of the 800. My partner also agrees it is even better than the 800 as a pillion ride. Cruisers are great but can you ride them all year round without worrying about corrosion? Nice to be allowed both🤣

@@fazerstorm-oap 👍 nice a solid Tiger owner! I have never ridden the 800, which is a shame. But from riding the 900 I am very impressed. Cannot wait for the new Tiger 1200! Yup corrosion is a worry on the Speedmaster, I use a product called ACF-50 to help prevent corrosion. It does a good job. Both would be ideal haha

Hiya Gus! Great review...and do it I hear you say heated seat? I could do with that!!. Would definitely love to see if there is a kit for it👍 Not my style of bike if I'm honest. The dash....looks super busy...and with my short legs I would probably suffer. Guess I love my bike to much. Can't see me changing it anytime soon. Take care and ride safe. 👍 Thanks. Thats correct it even has heated seats!! Would be very nice this time of year. That is fair enough, it is a completely different proposition to the Speedmaster. Thought I would give it a test and see what it is all about, a very nice bike. But as someone has commented maybe a bit too good (lack of character). Very nice review specially from an adv rider !! I am a lot interested in both bikes that it's hard to choose from . Iove the DCT of Africa twn but she also very tall for me and i love di tiger 900 even though i owned the old 800 ( very base model ) so.... I got time till spring then I'll be doing my purchase Cheers Man

Great lookin bike the new 1200's I think are actually lighter and even better well I am led to believe but certainly look good was gonna go to the show but in the end just elected to stay in mi chair at home : D cheers

Yea I did really like it. Sooo different to the Speedmaster haha, takes time to adjust!! I was at the show today filming the tiger 1200 reveal! Very very cool looking bike 👍. Can’t wait to test ride one. 150ps and 25kg lighter than the previous model!!! 😁 Haha fair enough, can’t do them all!

That was an interesting take on a very different ride to the Speedmaster. I have not ridden the Tiger but it’s a bike I love the look of and If I could own a second bike in my den I guess the Tiger would be it, so then I wonder which bike I would enjoy the most. Apart from the Speedmaster the only other bike I’ve owned is the Kawasaki Ninja 650, but the Tiger is very much a bike that ticks all the boxes as a bike that does everything, but probably doesn’t do everything the best.

Hi Garry, thanks. Yup it is certainly very different to the Speedmaster!! It is a brilliant motorbike, and it does do a lot of things very well. To me it may just be lacking a bit of character that you get from a twin engine. I definitely recommend a test ride of one to get a feel for it. A very composed and capable bike.

I'd agree with this even though I've not ridden the new Tiger 900 Pro. I should image it does everything very well, possibly too well, hence the lack of character. The TFT looks a total mess. KTM and BMW TFTs look much better or traditional clocks. The best dash is the new Hayabusa Gen 3, a mixture of new and traditional clocks. The Speedmaster in contrast has a single analogue clock, perhaps it a bit too spartan, but is such an involving visceral riding experience. Just wish Triumph had given it 100bhp and corresponding slight raise in torque or shove. It's not slow, but does run out of grunt and get a bit ragged if you do want to press on. But I still like it very much. Great for riding at "normal" speeds.

Hi Alex, I definitely think it is a very good motorbike, but I think you may have hit the nail on the head! Possibly too good! That is a very good analysis. I didn't feel that involved in the ride. TFT is way too complicated!! I felt the same with the Triumph Street Scrambler I used to own, it was brilliant but needed more power. The Speedmaster is a lot better, but yes I think more power would be good 👍

Another great video! Thank you! That plastic wind screen looks cheap. Maybe it’s just the light from the sun. I’m thinking of getting an adventure bike like a tiger 900 or the Africa Twin. I have a 2018 speedmaster and T120 that I love so maybe I’ll stick with Triumph.

Thanks 👍 I appreciate it, glad you like the video. A great point about the windscreen. I completely agree, it does feel a bit cheap, like it does on most adventure bikes!! Maybe except the BMW GS. I used to own a 2016 Africa Twin. Great bike, however I never took it off road, so found the 21” front wheel a bit big. The Tiger 900 is very good 👍

Well it was a good review :) I gona purchase a mc in the spring time and either it will be a Triumph 900 Rally Pro or Ducati Multistrada V2 S so would be nice if someone could review those 2 also!

Thanks Ed, I appreciate it 👍. Nice, exciting times, new bike purchase!! I recommend getting out there and test riding as much as possible to get a feel for the different styles. The Tiger 900 is very different to the V2s. The tiger is very smooth, where as the V2s is much more "vibby". Both great bikes. I personally prefer the Tiger 900. Maybe I will do a comparison vid!

It is a brilliant tourer to be honest! Perhaps missing the low down grunt of a twin engine, but not bad. Have the bonus of t-plane crank and higher rpm power. Not missing much, a great tourer.

Not sure I see the point in comparing a Speedmaster with a Tiger - completely different beasts with completely different markets in mind. The only similarity is the badge!

Yes of course they are incredibly different! This was in my early days of reviewing, I suppose I was just trying to explain a point.
