Redback Spider Infestation 2.0 YouTube Problems & Fears 2017

Deadly spider infestation just gets worse. More Redback spiders and LOTS of them. This 2.0 infestation is in the tubs that mummy uses for her garden. This area was firebombed roughly 3 months ago. I have kept an eye on this area not expecting spiders to return until next spring. Something happened over Christmas that had the Redback spiders return in numbers greater than before. It's really depressing to see how fast the once cleared garden area was re-infested. Yet more evidence of the amazing Australian Redback spider which seems to stop at nothing to dominate the world. I also speak about my 2017 plans on KZbin and cover some major problems I have been having. Researchers say a small native wasp that scientists had forgotten about for more than 200 years is now making a name for itself -- as a predator of Australia's most common dangerous spider, the redback.
The Redback spider (Latrodectus hasseltii) is a species of venomous spider indigenous to Australia. It is a member of the cosmopolitan genus Latrodectus, the widow spiders. The adult female is easily recognised by her spherical black body with a prominent red stripe on the upper side of her abdomen and an hourglass-shaped red/orange streak on the underside. Females have a body length of about 10 millimetres (0.4 in), while the male is much smaller, being only 3-4 mm (0.12-0.16 in) long. Mainly nocturnal, the female Redback lives in an untidy web in a warm sheltered location, commonly near or inside human residences. It preys on insects, spiders and small vertebrates that become ensnared in its web. It kills its prey by injecting a complex venom through its two fangs when it bites, before wrapping them in silk and sucking out the liquefied insides. Male spiders and spiderlings often live on the periphery of the female spiders' web and steal leftovers. Other species of spider and parasitoid wasps prey on this species. The Redback is one of few arachnids which usually display sexual cannibalism while mating. The sperm is then stored in the spermathecae, organs of the female reproductive tract, and can be used up to two years later to fertilise several clutches of eggs. Each clutch averages 250 eggs and is housed in a round white silken egg sac. The Redback spider has a widespread distribution in Australia, and inadvertent introductions have led to established colonies in New Zealand, Japan, and in greenhouses in Belgium.
The redback is one of the few spider species that can be seriously harmful to humans, and its preferred habitat has led it to being responsible for the large majority of serious spider bites in Australia.

Towards the end of 2016, KZbin underwent a change in layout which has effected a lot of people. It has changed the way people watch KZbin, people will now watch what is trending and recommended rather than their subscriptions. I live in Ohio in the US and I LOVE your spider videos! I subscribed and they pop up every single time I log on so hopefully things are looking up in that area. I've seen many vids that people are complaining about the KZbin changes. Pisses me off because I enjoy so many videos and so many of the channels I like to watch do not upload as often. Greedy corporations! Ugh!

The most important thing about KZbin is having diverse content. Most of the larger channels who retain very high subscriber view counts talk about how it's attributed to having diverse content. I think you had a bit of an influx of people come just for the spider stuff but stay for the toy stuff (like me). This means you gained another set of audience. I would recommend either added some different content or changing what you're currently doing. If you look at massive channels like PewDiePie or H3H3 who still have pretty high views on all their videos, it's because they switch up their formula. Neither channel is doing what they started doing. The current KZbin is all about adapting and changing, you have a massive following still so your videos will reach a TON of people, so just try to make something that's a bit different. Adapt and thrive. I believe in you man, I know you can do it! Don't let the hard times get you down because you still bring a lot of happiness to a lot of people and you're in a very special position to be able to do that!

As for KZbin, this is a widespread issue. h3h3productions and others have addressed it heavily. For many, It comes to the point to where you just have to make videos for fun and as a hobby -- whether they garner views or not. Anyway, I subscribed because of the spider videos and absolutely love them. We used to have them at our public school. I remember one of my friends getting chased out of the bushy area in the playground by one as he was trying to get the tennis ball, while we were playing hand ball. They are scary and fast.

I have a theory as to the KZbin issues. I think because you have 2 types of videos for 2 different audiences on the same channel (spiders and toys) whenever you post a video it's only for half of your subs leading to "subscriber burnout" where subs don't watch videos for a while and YT stops recommending videos or notifying those subs. Other channels have had this problem where at one point they were posting say (random example) 90% movie reviews and 10% vlogs and other stuff but then they increase the amount of vlogs and many of the original subs don't watch them but it brings in new subscribers who don't watch the movie reviews because one of those vlogs became really popular. This, in the end leads to high subscribers but low views (as compared to subs). On your channel some of the "spike" videos (where one video got a lot of views) have been spider videos so they might have brought in many subscribers that were not interested in the toy reviews. It could be worth having a second channel to separate your audiences - you might see a decrease in subs as the spider people leave but it would fix the issues of "subscriber burnout" that might also cause people to unsubscribe.

maybe instead of capturing and breeding redback you should try doing some research on their natural predators (such as whitetails, or even better, cellar spiders since they are inoffensive to humans) and breed those instead and spread them through your garden. I know I used to similar cockroaches problem in my house and all I needed to do to get rid of them was let cellar spiders and ants live in peace around the house and a certain lizard that found it's home somewhere inside the ceiling over my kitchen, since then, seeing a single cockroach has become a twice or thrice a year event, and that's even tho they have a tendency of coming out of the sewer in my garden and enter through the crooked door that leads to it. Even if I find a cockroach once and it escapes my shoe, I usually find the ants carrying it's corpse a few days later. The reason why you seem to be losing views and subscribers is the new youtube algorithm for suggesting videos to users and which also deletes the subscription to your channel to any subscribed users randomly every time you upload a video, it'd be better if you googled up some info on that on your own.

The spider box, however, is a very different environment to where the redbacks and their predators actually live, most creatures that hunt down spiders do so in a space that they already know and under their control, they don't just arrive to a place and start eating the spiders (they need to get comfy first), I really doubt the whitetail for example even realized the spiders were in fact redbacks until it got captured, and I doubt at any point it realized just how small the tank was and how many spiders were there. Most creatures which hunt spiders do so by outsmarting them, for example: if you go hunting lions, even if you have a high caliber rifle which you can use to kill dozens of them with a single mag, parachuting in the middle of a zoo pen full of them blindfolded is not the best idea; you want to get far away from them and pick them off one by one, maybe when they are sleeping to catch them off guard too. If you think about it, this is how some wasps work pretty much, only instead of shooting from afar their launch their entire bodies and sting, because they don't attack more than one spider at a time they don't need to back off after either. Another example: the cellar spider hunts down others by climbing to their nets and vibrating, feigning to be a helpless bug caught in the net, once the target gets close they try to tangle it in it's own web, if you were to throw a cellar spider into the box, first of all it would be scared and confused, supposing it manages to get's it's bearings straight, it may not be very hungry and willing to hunt down the redbacks, but by that time all the redbacks in the enclosure will be aware of the presence of an intruder and it doesn't take them that long to identify that intruder as a potential predator, maybe the cellar spider will even try to get a web of it's own to catch some crickets, but all the likely spots are already occupied by redbacks. In fact, if you really want to get rid of redbacks (just like I did with roaches) you'd have to keep an amount of natural predators that is bigger than the average "income" of spiders, because you want them to always have at least one of them hunting spiders down, but you also need animals that don't have a strong predisposition towards this particular prey, else, they will leave one the spiders become scarce, and in this case they'd be even less effective than the flamethrower. It is also not completely necessary to add that many predators or any at all, just add enough competition, other animals that c}predate upon the same type of prey in the same places and the spiders will go away to find food, so an infestation of ants would be your safest bet in my opinion (they are the only creature I can think of that never stops hunting), supposing you'd be okay with that. But also, I am not an entomologist myself, so I'd rather suggest you make your own research, or even better, try to contact an expert near your residence.

Daddy long legs will eat black widow spiders and I would assume redbacks too. We are having problems with black widow's at my place so we just paid my friends kid to go all over his neighborhood catching Daddy's and are going to release them in the problem spot. The neighbors are thrilled to get rid of a spider and the kid likes the whole quarter a spider. Maybe you could try that since Cats usually leave Daddy's alone.
