It's so nice to see someone helping young people get interested in building and working on engines. Back in the early 1970's, I learned from Mike Demarist and Bill Schultz. They built Drag Racing engines for some of the top Drag Racers back in the day but they were never too busy that they couldn't help a young guy learn the ropes. It is a learning process and I built 5 cars until I had got to the point where I had a fast car. I then went on to spend a career in the Automotive industry as a Mechanic. It was a good career. Thank you again for helping Jose. And to Jose I say, keep at it.

Even though you were riding on grass, not asphalt, or gravel, it sends shivers up my spine, to see bare legs and hands. The first few times I rode my 212 Predator, non hemi mountain bike, I had trouble keeping the front wheel on the ground, when I accelerated away, in traffic. Once, when waiting for a traffic light, My pants caught the long throttle lever, sticking out from the carb, and, over she went. It was more embarrassing, when the same thing happened after I picked the bike up, and remounted it. After cutting off the excess throttle lever, and some head scratching, I figured out the fast rebound setting on my front forks was causing the front end to jump up when accelerating, so I switched it to slow rebound, and the front wheel began to behave itself. I know a 212 Predator is not really legal, In Canada, with no license, plates, or insurance, but, it looks like a Monster 90 engine, only more fun. I try to keep it under 100 km/h so as not to attract too much attention, but, being partly blind, and mostly deaf, with no sense of balance, and 70 years old, it's my only transportation. Why don't you DIY guys build a motorized mtb? They are a blast, and much more road worthy. I did stretch the frame to fit the 212, but the Monster 90 engine fits with no mods. Go Power Sports were nice enough to GIVE me a Juggernaut clutch, when they first came out with it, and it is a game changer. COMPLETELY maintenance-free, smooth, and delivers power, when it's needed. It is definitely a Swiss watch among clutches. I'd really like to see you put together a motorized mtb, to see what you come up with. PS, I was a little concerned, when I saw the stock flywheel you pulled off that engine, but, then I saw you replace it with a billet alum one, good call. that stock flywheel won't keep it's magnet, at that RPM, and they become a bullet, at 6,000rpm. Nice work.

This should be a learning lesson for all backyard kart builders. I followed the road to hp videos and built my 212 and got great results for way less money. Greg made a great point. When starting your build, trash the stock card and go for the slide carb. Don't waste your money trying to improve the stock carb. I tried and it is a waste of time. Great learning video on how to spend your money wisely.

You might want to shim the springs that RB installed in the head since he cut the spring pockets for you. He has you in the safe zone at .060" and rightfully so, considering the build, but there is some HP, torque, and RPM that might be left on the table without shimming the springs to .030" of coil bind. Just a thought on your "Road to Horsepower" Good luck , Jose and thank you RB for another awesome video!

I remember when I was around 15-16 and built a custom pitbike with one of those walmart baha bike frames. Bought that frame on craigslist for $40 and repainted it blue and got a predator 212 engine and put a stage 2 performance kit on it. That thing was so much fun and probably went 35-40mph and got great smiles per gallon puttering around my neighborhood.

RB never be fearful or ashamed you. Cannot help everyone and blessing one is enough. The others will understand you are ONE man. That being said you increase your user interests with these types of interactions as well. Now a couple comments from me the Masterbuilder of B.S. 😂. Why do you prefer assembly fluid when ARC swears to builders to use the engine oil you are using in the motor so the splash system can keep flowing? Sassy fluid is sticky and stays put. #2 who taught you that hot glue on the suction cups!?? BUDDY! If I had a dollar bill for every curse word I screamed every time those cups let loose on a good lap I’d have my own dyno! 😂 #3 You gave Jose a new block and crank and several other parts. That boy is happy as pie. 🥧 Keep on Redin~On brotha. Psst… when we get to see that supercharger on that twin in the back?? 😮

Wow… that is shocking for only 10.81 hp.. I have a 212 HEMI and when it was brand new we put valve springs to rev 6k rpm and a Briggs 206 animal carb with a black slide, and a fuel pump powered by the vacuum from the engine block, and it reached a whopping 14 hp. It was 100 bux for the engine, and 2-300 for the other parts. And those other parts were even used too haha

It's way under-carburated. Needs a properly set up 22 or a sloppy 24. Note that too big won't work, either; and matching the carb and ports, then properly tuning the carb, would get him smiling.
