Nicholi always brings the bigger looking bangers but the judges have picked Emil his technicality over the big tricks by Nicholi the last couple events. It really is a matter of taste. I prefer Nicholi his runs over Emil his runs, but both insane athletes nonetheless.

No. Like you said yourself, you never really watch these and therefore you most likely don't understand the details of slopestyle tricks and judging. The first place guy did half of his tricks opposite, which means spinning the wrong way opposed to what you're comfortable with. That is insanely dificult and learning a trick opposite is like learning it all over again. Imagine playing golf or dunking a basketball with the wrong hand.
