The 2019 Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championship comes to a dramatic close in the mecca of MTB with the iconic Red Bull Joyride. What a week of mountain biking!
In what might have been one of the most emotional moments in Slopestyle mountain bike history, Emil Johansson (SWE) stepped up to the top of the podium today at the biggest contest is the discipline, Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx Whistler, Canada.
“Getting all the tricks together was really hard,” he said of his 95.75 scoring run. “I was standing on top before my second run and I was so nervous. If anyone would have beat my run I would have needed to improve my run I already did, and I don’t even know if I could get all these combos in a row again, since it was so hard to get them all together.”
Rheeder threw down a flawless second run, bringing in the loudest cheers of the day from the 30,000+ crowd that descended on Whistler to watch it all go down. He would score a 94.5, just shy of first.
And while the Triple Crown evaded him this year, Brett Rheeder does walk away with the overall Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championship title from the points he amassed over the course of the season. This is the fourth time he’s won the Crankworx overall.

Honestly mountain biking has the best community, and competitive nature. Look at racing, riders will walk the course together and share lines, knowing that them sharing that line might give away their win, but they share it anyway. Honestly I love it.

Last year a lot of the fans were saying that the judges favored nicholi, in insbruck this year they said that the judges favored brett and now people are saying that they're favoring emil. Yet we've had the same judges for years! I think that everyone is blaming the judges as soon as their favourite rider doesn't win and that the fans are the actual biased ones

Subjective judging is a loose-loose situation in my opinion. I hate the judging, but it's gotta be judged somehow! I just wish they didn't do "slotting" and would just judge each run independently and let the scores fall where they fall. This business of slotting a run higher or lower based on "where it belongs" leaves a lot of room for shenanigans by the judges.
@xx-dt8hm
@xx-dt8hm 4 жыл бұрын
@@callumyoung7785 no, go and watch again, not one trick smoothly landed, it was the most entertaining run of the comp and definetly if it would have been cleanly executed, been the winning run for sure, but this year Johansson has been doing similar tier tricks landing perfectly straight every single time and thats what has won him the comp. It is as someone said before kind of a Semenuk vibe in the guy since that is what has made Semenuk the GOAT. But dont hate, opinions are different and judging is the weak point of the sport at the moment
