I honestly can't believe that VDL wasn't DSQ for his actions. This whole team deserved both championships and it's so sad that it was stolen by one stupid action. The DTM lost a lifelong fan in me, with the way this finale was handled. Why would I spend a single minute following this championship if I know at the end the results are manipulated and drivers can just ram into their oponent (twice in a row) and take them out of the race with little or no consecuences?

I only recently started following it, but the more I learned, the more disgusting it became. Yeah I am also done with this joke of a championship. No person in their right mind would follow or enjoy something as vile and corrupted as this... Srsly I only watched because I like gt3 cars in sims and Albon, but like the clowns included in this series makes me feel ok with a potential cancel of the whole thing. (even though I hate this cancel culture from my heart, this would deserve it)

@TheNorthernAviator Why would the race be stopped for one driver that doesn't make any sense. Its racing things like this happen all the time some more serious than this. I mean look at British GP this year Hamilton only got a 10 second penalty for that incident compared to that this is nothing. Unfortunate for Liam and how he lost the championship but the world moves on and he will too.

Feel so bad for Lawson, I was absolutely raging when I saw that Race 2 incident, he deserved that title 100%. Great work by AF Corse and Red Bull to get the teams' title, but I'd imagine that's little consolation for Lawson Also great work from Cassidy to come into the team and perform well like that, love his personality too. KVL just doesn't know what shame is and he absolutely disgusts me, especially from this video - so many conversations with him before the race and he just kept divebombing anyway? If that's not deliberate then I don't know what is. And btw no matter if it's intended or not, that podium shot of Liam with 1st and champion texts as background is great visual language. Well, yeah, because Mercedes and Audi chickened out and pulled the plug while BMW developed the car for 2021. Can't blame Aston Martin - HWA because they were not present in the talk to begin with. Now Second Gen Class One is still alive and well in Japan and only in Japan.

If we're talking the one thing that makes DTM unique which is the Class 1 regs, then there's GT500 in Super GT that will keep using it for far longer than DTM will ever hoped for. Honestly, Super GT is the best GT series out there (far better than DTM even back when they're still using Class 1) with both GT500 and GT300 producing great races one after another.

Since first race of this season I watched the DTM because of two things. First is Tourenwagen Legenden and the second is Liam Lawson... I watched whole season, was cheering both Liam and Ferrari with their first full season. It wasn't every time by the way we all wanted but if you are a fan, you are there for all ups and downs. But... The last race was a nightmare... Lap 18 Goetz pits Lap 26 Auer pits Lap 37 Goetz's racing engineer says that he must to get closer, Goetz says that this is impossible, gao to Auer -9 sec Lap 58 gap Goetz to Auer is 14 sec. Lap 62 Ellis gives up the position to Goetz, gap to Auer -7.67 Lap 63 gap to Auer -4.68 Lap 64 Goetz gets pass on Auer Lap 68 at the finish line Auer is miraculously keeping with Goetz with just -0.86 sec lost. Couple laps earlier he was losing up to 4 sec per lap!! This is shameless, dirtiest, awfull, disrespectable, and unsporty thing that I've ever saw. Worse than F1 Belgian GP, the one, that never happened and an 1990 DTM Hockenheim finale when Schumacher, being only guest driver, torpedoed Johnny Cecotto, championship leader with 18 points advantage (Liam had 19 points advantage)... DTM Shame on you... Gerhard Berger shame!! I'm glad about the decision to take out Liam from DTM and this farce... You deserve for better league than this... I'm looking forward to any decisions. LIAM, HEAD UP! For us YOU are THE CHAMPION ANYWAY!! The REAL!!

Still haven’t recovered from the shock of what happened but Liam is the champion in my eyes and Liam and Nick together as a team was just awesome. Kiwi power. I’ve absolutely loved watching these review videos every week. I’m another who was watching because of Liam and Alex, neither of them will be there next year but I seriously wonder if Red Bull will now. Although I hope so as would be a great opportunity for another young driver. Nick Cassidy is a legend and if it wasn’t for sponsorship and financing I’m sure he would’ve been in F2 and F1. In sailing, and I think it should be in every sport, you have something called redress. If a contender gets taken out through no fault of there own and without the possibility to avoid a collision a score will be added based on the average amount of points scored throughout the season. This would have been one of those situations.

That was the most dirty dtm final for many years, remembered me of “Schieb ihn raus!”. Also a great effort by Nick, he’s done everything possible, exactly as Liam and the whole team. All together it was a nearly perfect season, all that missed was one teamorder less.

Judgement comes with experience .. and experience is often a result of bad judgement. KVL must surely reflect on his appalling judgement. Liam nailed the weekend and was bombed out of contention. Look to 2023 and may well be driving F1. Mighty video series.

Trying to become a bigger series, and be seen as more legit, but then let a farce of an ending, and a disqualification worthy start happen, really shows where DTM actually lies (in the pockets of the manufacturer's). Liam showed his skill, Alex had a solid season, and Nick made a great 3rd driver.

A 5-second penalty for F1 might be reasonable. For touring car it's just a yoke! Kelvin Van der Linde, a name to be remembered for its shame.

When every other merc on track lets him past without a fight, and his main title rival (who was ahead on pts) gets taken out on Lap 1? Farce of a race win. You could even argue that the title victory was a giant farce too.

@@awijaya2116 Well, the fact he was a championship contender is based on his own results. He won the race the day before by a mile and the all the points he had already weren't gifted to him. And, DTM was founded as a show case for German car brands. It's always been a brand/team championship. They were racing until only one real contender per brand was left, and then stuff like this was done. This is nothing new. Anyways, I was just trying to say, some are barking at the wrong tree here. I cheered for Liam too. This young lad has only raced single-seaters before and was the top guy from the first second. Just impressive! In the end I'm just happy Maxi Götz get the title instead of KVL. The 5 second penalty was a joke, he deserves one/some race bans. It was not the first time he braked to late and had to use other cars as moving rails to make the corner. I hope Liam gets a competitive seat in F1 soon, even if this would make George Russell's life harder. ;)

Speechless, the van der linde jumped the chicane shamelessly, as he had no punishment? Mercedes team game letting goetz win the race for free. Lawson had the title usurped, he was without a doubt the best driver of the season!

Lets talk somewhere else, not yet. Yes, in a dark alley, alone. Even far beyond the apex you see his car still pointing 45 degree down, never on earth he could've made that corner. But as once said, to finish first, you first have to finish.. hard reality check here. Still Liam can look back at a insane great season, Nick looks like the older wise brother :D
